Updated 10/29/2025 | Published 09/22/2025

Question:

I have a 2015 GMC Acadia and plan to tow behind our motorhome with a Roadmaster All terrain non-binding tow bar. What parts are recommended to get the vehicle tow ready?

Hi Keith, welcome back! It looks like you went ahead and ordered the following:

-Demco Classic Base Plate Kit - Fixed Arms # DM9518302

-Roadmaster Falcon 5250 Tow Bar Adapter Brackets for Demco Classic Base Plates # DM9523023

-Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles - 7-Way to 6-Way Coiled Adapter Cord # RM-15267

-Roadmaster FuseMaster Fuse Bypass Switch for Towed Vehicles - (2) 20-Amp ATC/ATO Fuses # RM76514

-Roadmaster FuseMaster Fuse Bypass Switch for Towed Vehicles - 50-Amp FMX Fuse # RM-76517

-Brake Buddy Classic 3 Portable Flat Tow Brake System - Preset # HM39494

As long as you have a Roadmaster Falcon 5250 tow bar this will all work well together. The only other thing you may need is a high-low adapter to keep your setup level. Take a look at the article linked further down on this page which explains how to measure and choose the right adapter.

Robin, you were spot on. On a hunch, after researching some of your other posts, these are the exact parts that I ordered prior to getting your message this morning. The parts arrived this morning and I was so thankful that your advice to others, helped me in ordering the correct parts. Thank you sir. And as always, etrailer rocks.

Robin. Here lately, in the last week while traveling, our battery in our towed vehicle has been draining and no juice left in the battery to start the car after 6-7 hours of driving our coach. We thought it might be a bad battery in our car, so we just replaced it with a new interstate battery two days ago. We stopped for the night in Moab, Utah, and this morning, the car battery was dead. Whats causing our battery to drain overnight? The switches in the car were all set to "tow." Could the brake buddy be draining our battery? I double checked everything this morning and all by pass fuses and all connections are good. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Btw, I contacted roadmaster about this since bith bypass switches are from them, and they had no answer.

@KeithE the Brake Buddy does pull power so it is possible it is doing something it shouldn't. You could test the wires to see what is happening. Otherwise, that shouldn't be a problem since it includes a charge line. If you don't feel like testing it you could disconnect it to see if you have the same problem and narrow it down.
