Best Flat Tow Setup For 2015 GMC Acadia

Question:

I have a 2015 gmc acadia with a v6 engine i intend to flat tow behind my rv. Would the tow kits you have assembled together for the gmc terrain be the same or can you give me other recommendations? Thank you Damon

Hello Damon, thanks for reaching out. It looks like both the fwd and awd models of the 2015 Acadia can be flat towed. I will start with a parts list followed by a few notes about towing your Acadia.

- Roadmaster FuseMaster Fuse Bypass Switch for Towed Vehicles - 50-Amp FMX Fuse # RM-76517

- Roadmaster FuseMaster Fuse Bypass Switch for Towed Vehicles - (2) 20-Amp ATC/ATO Fuses # RM76514

- Demco Stay-IN-Play Duo Flat Tow Brake System for RVs w/ Hydraulic Brakes - Proportional # SM99251

You may also need a drop hitch like part # BLU28XR, along with a few locking hitch pins # e98881 and a cover # e76FV for your tow bar.

Fuses must be pulled for recreational towing so the tow fuse bypasses I mentioned will be required. Please refer to your owners manual for fuse type and location. Pulling the Batt1 50 amp fuse when towing may cause the headlights to come on. It is recommended to also pull the Headlight High Beam relay when towing.

The drop hitch is needed to compensate for height differences between the base plate arms and the hitch on your RV. Any difference of more than 3" requires a drop hitch. If you plan to use the drop hitch, a second locking pin is recommended.

As with any flat tow setup please thoroughly read the recreational towing section of your owners manual. Make sure you follow all of the instructions listed. GMC does say for vehicles being dinghy towed, the vehicle should be run at the beginning of each day and at each RV fuel stop for about five minutes. Also never exceed 65 mph or you could cause non-warranty damage to your vehicle.
