Question:
I have a 1999 newmar dutch star, want to flat tow my 2019 jeep cherokee trailhawk. A coworker has a stowmaster 5000. He will sell to me. Can the stowmaster handle my jeep? How much are the base plates and wiring?

Hello Jonnsia, thanks for reaching out. The Stowmaster tow bar is typically not something I recommend since it isn't non-binding and it can be a pain to deal with. If you can get a really good deal on it, it would be enough to support your Jeep. But unless you really want to store the tow bar on the front of your Jeep, there are way better option out there like the Roadmaster Falcon 2 # RM-520.
Here is a complete list of parts I recommend for your flat tow:
- Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # RM-521451-5
- Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar - RV Mount - 2" Hitch - 6,000 lbs # RM-520
- RoadMaster 68" Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables - 6,000 lbs # RM-643
- Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles - 7-Way to 6-Way Coiled Adapter Cord # RM-15267
- Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-156-25
- Demco Stay-IN-Play Duo Flat Tow Brake System for RVs w/ Hydraulic Brakes - Proportional # SM99251
If you do end up using that Stowmaster tow bar, you will need the Crossbar Style Base Plate # RM-521451-4 instead of the # RM-521451-5.
You may also need a drop hitch like part # BLU28XR to level out your tow bar. Or if you do the Stowmaster you can use a drop ball mount if needed. If the drop hitch is used, safety cable extensions # RM-910648-10 will be required.
