Can Old Thule Square Bars Be Mounted On A 2008 Honda Civic 4-Door LX?

Updated 08/07/2025 | Published 07/01/2025

Question:

Morning. I have a 2008 Honda Civic 4-door LX I think and a set of old Thule square crossbars the ones w/out the inner channel. Im looking for a footpack to attach the bars to the 08 Civic. I know Thule used to make ones that would clamp to the doorframe for square crossbars before they decided to add the inner channel cutout for planned obsolescence... Thanks very much.

Hey Matt, thanks for reaching out. There is a solution for using the old-style Thule square crossbars on a 2008 Honda Civic, and it involves using parts from an Inno roof rack. The Inno square bars have the same dimensions as the old Thule bars and they do not have a bottom channel, so they mount the same way. To mount them on your 2008 Civic, you will need the following:

- Inno Feet for Square Crossbars - Naked Roofs - Black - Qty 4 # INSUT

- Custom Fit Kit for Inno XS200, XS250, and INSU-K5 Roof Rack Feet # INK326

The fit kit clamps to the door jambs. Please note, Inno recommends a 50" crossbar for your vehicle. Please make sure your bars are at least 50" long.

\What are you planning on using the roof rack for?

Hey Matt, did the Inno roof rack parts work out for mounting your old Thule square crossbars on your Civic? I'm curious to know if it solved your issue, as it could help others in a similar situation.
