Installation
This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located in your rear cargo area. You will have to remove the rear scuff panel, storage trim panel, and side trim panel to access this harness. Once you've plugged in the connector, open your fuse box and locate the fuse position indicated in the instructions. Then insert the included 10-amp fuse.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your trunk.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a circuit-protected, battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.
Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.
Curt builds each tail light converter using surface-mount technology (SMT). This method of construction involves soldering electronic components directly to the surface of a printed circuit board. SMT eliminates the need for leads, which are used in older through-hole technology. The result is a circuit board that is smaller yet provides more routing area and that offers superior performance, reliability and durability.
Circuit boards constructed using SMT have been shown to perform better under rough conditions with excessive vibration than those made using the through-hole method. And where would vibration be more likely to occur than in towing applications? Curt converters also produce less heat, leading to increased durability and longer life. In addition, lower levels of resistance ensure better performance, especially for parts that operate at higher frequencies.

Easy to get to wiring and was truly plug and play on my 25 hybrid CRV touring. I ran it out the rear of the floor through a rubber grommet, just needed to open that hole a bit with a dremel to get the plug to fit through, rubber grommet back in and some silicone, then used the curt harness holder for the plug end.

The online video instructions were excellent and extremely helpful. Even though the process of installing the CURT Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring harness included removing several trim pieces, I had no trouble following the instructions and the project was completely successful. When I was done, you couldn't even tell that any of the trim had been removed or that anything had been altered. The only clue was the new custom trailer harness wire coming out of the rear hatch under the spare tire cover.
I couldn't be happier with CURT Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring harness. It has not given me one moment of trouble and has worked flawlessly since it was installed.

The product fit my car, and is sturdy. When purchasing it wasn't clear about how the wiring would run. I am disappointed, that wiring kit was not a thru the wall type kit, that would allow the wiring connection to always be outside the car for a connection. It didnt come with a thru the wall gasket set up, like my previous, and others. So the wire sits inside the car, and when I trailer I have to have the wire hanging out the back hatch, and have to close the hatch on it, since there is no back window. IT is not elegant, and I am disappointed by that.I only found this out after the mechanic installed it, and said that's how it has to be with this one.
The wiring kit for my 2025 Honda CRV was a very simple install after I located the factory wire harness white plug. Hint, mine was wrapped in brown plastic tape. I was able to route my harness into the spare tire compartment so it is stored out of sight when not in use.
It included a second fuse which was needed but no instructions were given what to do with it. After installation of harness the lights did not work. I went on etrailers site and found video with instructions on putting fuse in under dash fuse holder.
Very easy to install in 2022 Honda CRV.

I really like the addition of the lights on your bike rack, Mike!
Nice kit, in my 2025 Honda Crv hybrid sport, the 2024 video was more helpful than the written directions that came with the kit. The latter would have had me require/loosen a lot more trim pieces than was needed. The video also correctly noted that some trimming of the bottom panel is needed to clear the hitch.
Given I’m adding the hitch to carry items like a bike rack, and will rarely be towing given the small tow capacity of the hybrid, I went with the video idea of tucking the module behind the strap for the tire inflator.

The wiring harnesses are very straightf orward.
Easy to install. It would have been better to explain the purpose of the 15 amp fuse. I had to call to find out what it was for. It goes into the fuse block under the driver’s side dash. It was rows down and 3rd slot over. (See photo below) Once the fuse was installed the lights worked great.
Installation went good. The problem was with the lack of space near tail lights. Wiring was well made and instructions were very clear.

Necessary to stay DOT compliant, but more of a pain to install than instructions lead on. Pictures are useless - looks like someone photo copied a b&w photo at 100% color saturation. Install video on the etrailer website is very helpful.
Good product, works great. Would have been handy to know a small mirror would have been very helpful. Also, installation video mentioned it but- I'd like to emphasize to look for the connector 2" above the grounding screw.
Excellent experience once again buying from etrailer. Web site is easy to navigate, video's make it easy to install, outstanding quality and fast delivery. Love their support and follow-up support ensuring a happy customer. Have recommended to several of my friends.
I spent so much time on the hitch installation that I didn’t have time to install the wiring.

The delivery of my new trailer for pulling the kayak did not include the wiring necessary to connect it to a Honda CRV. The representative was very helpful, and my order was delivered within a few days.

The price was great and the kit fit perfectly. The plug is in the spare tire well so it isn't exposed to the weather.
Easy installation with the help of Etrailer's instructional video
Unit was easy to install however, lights stay on. Full function is there but won’t turn off. I do not feel this is a vehicle issue as the vehicle is new. Worked for approx 6 months. Too expensive to gamble on another unit so I repaired to unplugging when I need them off.

Very easy to install. Just plug in and voila! However, I did have to buy a 20 amp fuse for the car fuse block as it did not come with one.
Watch the video to see how to remove/loosen panels. Even they were easy.

Received the harness in very timely time frame with no shipping cost. Installation went as advertised.
The convenience of the simple plug-in ground, rather than the bolt-on version of some made this adapter easy to connect and install. Definitely recommend!
