Question:
We currently have a Bulldog Round, A-Frame Jack - Topwind - 15inch Lift - 5,000 lbsinch but it is welded onto the frame of our trailer. Now I am looking to increase the lift capacity to more than 5,000 lbs. Can I install the inner tube of this jack Round, Pipe Mount Swivel Jack w/ Footplate - Weld On - Topwind - 15-1/4inch Travel - 7K through the existing outer tube of the old Bulldog one? Thanks,

Hello Aaron,
While both jacks appear to have the same tube size, I wouldn’t recommend transferring internal parts between them. The outer tube on the Bulldog A-Frame Jack # BD155032 is only rated for 5,000 lbs, so even if higher-rated components fit inside, the housing itself isn’t engineered to handle more load. Doing this would also void any manufacturer warranty and could pose safety concerns.
At this time, we don’t carry any A-frame style jacks rated for 7,000 lbs. Since A-frame jacks are only supporting tongue weight, 5,000 lbs is usually enough. However, if you need a more heavy-duty option, you could consider mounting a pipe-mount swivel jack like # TJP-7002-B to the trailer’s side frame. This would give you the 7,000 lb capacity in a different mounting style.
What kind of trailer is this on?
