Question:
I have a 2006 Damon Astoria, I’m changing out the AC units, Carrier Air V units, are the ADV56FR units a direct fit? If not which units do I need?

Hello David, thanks for reaching out. If you asked me this a year or two ago, I probably would have told you the Advent unit can replace a Carrier unit. That said, there have been a lot of changes to RV AC units in the last year or two and we have been running into a ton of issues with compatibility between new AC units and old controllers or distribution boxes. Even more so now they have switched over to the new R32 refrigerant.
So, you can definitely still switch over to an Advent AC, but you will need to replace your distribution box and thermostat as well. This is the only way we can guarantee everything will intercommunicate correctly. For that I recommend the following:
- Advent Air Low Profile RV Air Conditioner System - Single Zone - 15,000 Btu - Black - R32 # ADV54QR
This comes with the rooftop AC unit, controller, distribution box, thermostat and start capacitor. Everything you need to fully replace/upgrade your AC system.
Or if you prefer to have both units run on the same thermostat, you can use the following:
- Furrion Chill HE RV Air Conditioner System - Manual - 15,000 Btu - Black # FR54FJ

Hey David, did you decide to go with the Advent or Furrion AC system for your Damon Astoria? I'm curious to know how the installation went and if everything is working smoothly, as it could really help others in a similar situation.
