Features to know about

Cooling That Helps the Cabin Recover

Advent Air AC Unit

After a long drive or a full day parked in the sun, your RV can hold heat in the roof, walls, and furniture, well into the evening. This 15,500 Btu rooftop AC delivers 430 CFM of airflow to help bring cabin temperatures down and keep cooled air moving through your compatible Advent Air setup.

Replaces the Rooftop Unit Only

Advent Air 6-Pin Connector

If the rooftop AC is the part that needs replacing, you may not need to change the entire interior setup. This unit replaces the outside air conditioner and connects to compatible Advent Air R32 air distribution boxes and controls. The 6-pin plug helps link the rooftop unit to your existing compatible system without rewiring the whole AC setup.

Designed for Updated R32 Systems

This replacement unit is made for compatible AC systems that use R32 refrigerant. That matters because older systems and newer R32 setups do not always use the same controls, wiring, or interior components. Before installing, confirm that your current air distribution box and controls are compatible with this R32 rooftop unit.

Seals and Cushions the Roof Opening

Advent Air Foam Pads

A rooftop AC replacement needs a good seal where the unit meets the roof. The thick, collapsible gasket helps block rain and hot outside air from entering around the opening, while six foam pads help cushion the unit and reduce vibration at the mounting point. That helps the AC sit securely while keeping the cabin drier and quieter.

Easier Installation and Maintenance

Replacing a rooftop AC is easier when the unit is designed to connect to the system already in place. This AC uses a bolt-on installation and includes the wiring harness needed for compatible setups. The UV-resistant hard plastic cover protects the internal components and can be removed for maintenance and cleaning when the unit needs attention. If you'd like help installing your air conditioner, check out our Installer Locator to find an installer near you.

Optional Upgrade for Easier Startup

Some camping setups ask more from your AC than others, especially when you are running on generator or campsite power. The optional start capacitor (ACMSCKIT) can be added to help the compressor start more reliably. This upgrade is not included, but it gives you a way to build out the system for the way you camp.

First one made it in quick but I was slightly disappointed when my electrician wired it in and the fan motor didn't work. That disappointment faded as soon as I called customer support. Not only were they polite and helpful, they shipped the replacement before receiving my return which meant I didn't have a gaping hole in my roof to keep covered long. New one works perfectly. Couldn't be happier with the customer service I received. Will definitely be a returning customer.

If you really have NO experience with rooftop units, maybe you should go with a complete kit (including the control box/thermostat). If you have "some idea" of what you are doing, you can figure it out. This unit comes with a six pin plug that feeds the fan and compressor. Nothing more. Not even a wiring schematic. Not a big deal if you know how to connect things up. But if you don't, yea, go for the whole kit. We installed this on a 2005 31' Jamboree motorhome. I had to clip the connector off and connect it the old fashioned way (head scratchin' and wire nuts). I also used the control box original to our RV (more connector cutting, etc.). Still, it took only a couple hours to install. It looks great, works great, and (the most important part) the wife is happy. Our old, original unit still worked but was pulling about 27 amps - way too high. I think the power problems we had at an RV park a year ago (very low voltage) killed the compressor (low voltage = lots more heat). This one is pulling about 13 amps. Oh, you really should get some help getting it to the roof. I don't have any friends so I did it myself (sucked!). But it can be done. Just be really careful, take your time, think it through, and stretch those muscles before you get under it. Hopefully, you have a friend or two who can help. Ok. I'm off to take a nap in the cool air.

This is my fourth Advent unit I have purchased recently. The units themselves function well and customers are very happy but, on every unit, the six pin connector would not fully engage with the existing control box. Could not adjust the pins in the connector so is was forced to rewire unit using the old unit harness. I am considering going in another direction in the future.
by:
As I stated after my last purchase of a Advent AC. The six pin plug at the end of the umbilical cord does not engage with existing control boxes force a rewire of the cord using the old 6 pin connector. I'm thinking of using another brand and distributor in the future

Works good install, and didn’t notice that it was bent where the compressor and the fan motor mounts to the base plate had to Try straightening it the best I could the fan would not turn at all once I straighten it out better it is working
by:
Well I already told you the unit was damaged in transit, I did repair it by myself, it was dented in next to the compressor area, subframe metal was dented, plus the units wiring harness was identical to the receiver end of the existing on the rv wiring box, in other words, the prongs weren't received into each other, since they were the same, so even tho I may have ruined my warranty by cutting the end off the unit and wire nutting the old one in its place, but it works, could just fine, the old unit was 19 years old, everything is still the same on the unit, it was light weight, and cools just fine

Very fast shipping have not hook unit up looking forward to it.Very well built unit and good value Thank You
by:
The only problem was that the Connection was wrong. It should’ve been male instead of female. It would be nice to maybe put a gender bender connector in the box. Otherwise everything worked perfect. Just a suggestion thank you.
by:
Works great better then old Domic ever worked. The only problem is had was with the 6 pin connection the old one had rounded ends new one had flat ends made it hard to get plug in.but I am very happy with the unit cools great.
by:
Amazing! Needed this AC when mine went out in the desert! The crew (Paula) was very helpful and quick to respond and ship out the item. Fit perfect and blows cold!

The part has been great. Easy to Install. I may have missed it in the write up but it wasn't a direct fit as it needed a 9 pin to 6 pin adapter harness for my RV. Fortunately, my mobile mechanic had one in his truck so we didn't have to make on. I believe etrailer sells it for around $50.

This was a direct replacement for my 2013 Dometic AC unit right down to the 6 pin plug and the mounting bolts. It hooked up to the existing control unit without issue and runs all speeds.

  • Will the Advent Air 15.5K RV Air Conditioner Work With My Old AC Setup
Hey Mike! The Advent Air RV Air Conditioner # ADV74QR is only designed to work with an R32 setup. Your old unit is going to be R410A, so the old components won't be compatible. Since everything moved to R32 last year due to EPA regulations a complete replacement is required. The correct replacement depends on your setup. You can choose from the following based on ducted/ductless and color. -Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System - Single Zone - 15,500 Btu - White - R32 # ADV99QR -Advent...

  • Recommended AC Unit for a Portable Construction Office
Hey Ryan. If you want to run a duct to a separate compartment you'll also need to run a duct to the main room your AC is going to be in. You can't duct off the air boxes on the AC's and leave them open it's one or the other. You could try to block off half of the AC opening but I can't guarantee you're going to get much air forced down the duct. For a ducted or ductless setup, I recommend the Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System item # ADV69QR in black or item # ADV74QR in white. These...

  • Will Advent AC Unit ADV74QR Replace A Dometic Brisk Air 2?
Hey Charles, thanks for reaching out. No, the Advent Air RV Air Conditioner # ADV74QR is not a direct replacement for a Dometic Brisk Air 2 unit. If you need to replace an older Dometic unit, you will need to replace the entire AC system - rooftop unit, controller, distribution box and thermostat. Main reason being that new AC units use a new R32 refrigerant, and old units use a different refrigerant type and these new units are not backwards compatible with the old refrigerant. That...

  • What Advent Air R32 AC System Fits a 2017 Forest River Hemisphere 368RLBHK Living Room?
Hi Jerry, Yes, this is the correct fit for your 2017 Forest River Hemisphere 368RLBHK. Your RV uses the standard 14 1/4 inch by 14 1/4 inch roof opening, so the new unit will fit without any modifications to the roof. Since you're replacing an older factory air conditioner, you will need to replace the complete system because the newer Advent Air units use R32 refrigerant, which isn't compatible with the older components. If your living room air conditioner is tied into your RV's ductwork,...

  • What Air Conditioner Can I Use in a Tiffin Allegro with Ducts in the Ceiling?
Hi Ron, Do you have a cutout underneath your current air conditioner for an air distribution box? If you have a cutout under your current AC and your RV has ducts, you can use the Advent Air RV Air Conditioner part # ADV74QR, but you'll also need the Advent Air Distribution Box (ADB) and matching thermostat part # ADV24QR. Air conditioners now-a-days require the air distribution box to work because the control box is installed onto the box instead of inside the unit. The ducted version...
