Question:

Hi. I’m interested in a Stealth Hitch for my 2025.5 Volvo XC90 T8 PHEV. I’d like a full kit for towing with wire harness. Can you please clarify the products in your site that will provide this? It looks like I may need to purchase multiple. Do you sell Stealth Hitch’s specific harness? If yes, can you clarify the difference between “active” and standard harnesses that Stealth Hitch offers? Is a software update required to the car? Can this be DIY or is a dealer required? I own a “OBDeleven” if that can work. Finally, do you provide a dummy plug for when using passive accessories like bike racks? Thank you!

For the Stealth hitch you are going to want the Stealth Hitches Hidden Rack Receiver - Custom Fit - 2" # SH27FR for your 2025 Volvo XC90 Plug-In Hybrid. We do not have it kitted with the wiring, so you will also want the Towing Kit w/ Ball Mount and Trailer Wiring for Stealth Hitches Hidden Rack Receiver - 2" Ball # SH38VR.

I was only seeing the hitch on our site at first, so I reached out to my contact at Stealth and they confirmed that the # SH38VR is the right towing kit for your 2025 Volvo XC90 Plug-In Hybrid. I am getting our fitguide updated with this information, so if you go to the page and it says "not confirmed to fit" that is why. Richard at Stealth will not steer me wrong.

I wish I had an install video to share with you but we have not had the pleasure of installing one on the 025 Volvo XC90 Plug-In Hybrid, so if you are close to Wentzville, MO we would love to do the install for free so we can have the video footage.

@BrianZ I have installed a Stealth hitch before, my pointer is to take your time when you get your car taken apart. That is the most difficult part, but definitely doable! Some people try to rush through these installs, slow and steady wins the race! If you have any questions along the way, you know where to find us Brian.
