Inside Dimensions of the Yakima SkyBox NX 18 Rooftop Cargo Box

Question:

Do you have interior dimensions for this box NX 18? I need to fit two foldable kayaks, both 30x34x16, inside. They will not fit in a skybox 21 but the NX appears to have a more square profile and that was the issue with the skybox 21. Thanks.

Getting the inside dimensions of the Yakima SkyBox NX 18 Rooftop Cargo Box # Y45AV was no easy task, I started by contacting the manufacturer but they did not have the inside specs on any of the newer boxes like the NX line.

So then we had to pull a carrier and take the measurements, the biggest issue is that there are some obstructions inside of the box (i.e. latches, lift arms, so on...) that limit how accurate the measurements can be taken. I have included the measurements the best that we could take them from inside and outside of the box.

Inside length: approximately 77" end to end and 53" from the bend in the corner on one side to the bend in the corner on the other side
Inside width: approximately 27-1/4" which is slightly larger than the 24.5" of the older SkyBox models
Inside Height: approximately 7-1/4"

The manufacturer was able to verify it is a little wider than the non NX models. So if your foldable kayaks were close to fitting in the SkyBox 21, then they should fit in the NX18 (at east width wise).
