Recommended Snow Plow for 2" Hitch On a 2016 Chevy Colorado 4WD

Updated 01/10/2025 | Published 01/09/2025

Question:

I am looking for a snow blade for a 2016 Chevy Colorado, 4WD. I am a novice about this. With a front mount like you have for a real mount for a trailer, how hard is it to attach the blade for use. I am a 75 year old in good health but I wonder about the weight of the blade and whether I can manipulate the blade into the mount by myself. Also, why would one want a straight ahead blade rather than a blade that has three different positions? I will be plowing on asphalt. Would a need a blade that hydrolicaly moves up and down from the cab of the truck or is one down position, resting on the asphalt adequate?

Hey Dean, so the install is super easy for the Agri-Cover SnowSport HD Utility Snowplow # SS48GV (which is what I assume you were looking at) - you just slide everything into your receiver and set the height.

For the weight, it's not terribly heavy at 44 lbs. but I don't really know where your physically abilities are at so it could possible present a challenge.

Regarding the hydraulic question, I believe that while using a hydraulic plow might be easier to set up, this plow has a push frame that allows the blade to move with the terrain so you theoretically shouldn't need to adjust it once it's set.

Feel free to let me know if there is anything else I can help you with!

Thank you for the information. It is likely I will order this product. Looking at the parts, i think it does not include the part that is bolted or welded to the front of the truck. Do you sell that part as well? If so can you send me the part description and number? It is for a Chevy Colorado 2016 4WD.

@DeanE Sure Dean, it's just a front hitch so you can use the Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver # C31074.

@BryceD is the receptor attached with bolts or welding? It makes a difference regarding who I take it to.

@DeanE Those are bolted on, so you can theoretically do it yourself if you have a socket set.

Can I assume that once the receiver is installed that I should be able to assemble the parts of the snowblade myself. It has adequate instructions for a guy with tools to put together without help.

@DeanE Yes Dean you shouldn't run into any issues assembling it by yourself. I went over the instructions as well and it seems pretty straightforward. But, if you run into any hang ups you should be able to find some videos on YouTube to help.
