Replacement for Fulton Jack on 2016 Boatmate Trailer

Updated 11/21/2024 | Published 11/11/2024

Question:

Hi, I have a 2016 Boatmate trailer under my 22 ft. Moomba Craz about 4000 lbs. boat the Fulton Jack it came with is ver difficult to crank. I have disassembled , cleaned and regreased it to not avail. What Jack would you recommend for me? The curly pigtail at the front of the trailer also needs replacement. I see 5 to 7 pin pigtails on your site but I’m not sure if that’s the correct one? Thank you

Hi David; for a replacement jack I recommend the Trailer Valet JXS Drill Powered Swivel Trailer Jack w/ Footplate # TV64FR. This jack has a 5,000 lb capacity so it will be a lot easier to operate compared tot the Fulton one you have now. You also have the option to use a drill to raise and lower it (changes lift capacity to 1,250 lbs). I'm guessing you want a wheel so you will also need the # TV89FR.

As far as the wiring I'm not sure what you currently have on the trailer. If you have a 5-way flat on the boat trailer and a 7-way on your vehicle you can use the 7-Pole Blade to 5-Pole Flat Connector Wired Trailer Adapter # A57CCB or for a shorter option the Curt # C57281. If you have something else please let me know in the comments below.

Thank you. I didn’t know they even made a drill powered one. Why does the lift capacity drop when using a drill? Is it because the drill has less power? I will pull off the pigtail to get a better look at what I need.

@DavidH so technically the lift capacity is the same. They rate it much lower as some kind of safety precaution since you don't have the same control over the speed of the jack when you are using a drill vs. cranking it manually.

@RobinH Thank you for your help. Do you have a jack that has a snap ring type.mount?

@DavidH yes you could use something like the # FTJ120W0301. They pretty much all sit in this capacity range at 1,200 lbs.
