Solution to Allow a Cargo Carrier be Carried Higher than Stock Hitch Height

Updated 05/27/2014 | Published 05/25/2014

Question:

I have a cargo hauler for my 2006 ford escape. Exhaust hits it and it just sits too low. Would the 10inch riser work for this?

Because the high/low adapters like the part # RM-048-10 that you referenced are only designed for flat-towing purposes I cannot recommend you use one with your cargo carrier.

The best recommendation I could make for you would be to use a Curt Multipurpose Ball Mount # D210. This will give you about 4-1/2 inches of additional rise for your cargo carrier.
