This is a great accessory. It is a tight fit, though, and it actually didn't fit my VW until I gave a well-placed whack on the car's frame with a 3lb hammer. This gave me about a millimeter more clearance and it slide right into place. I've used it to attach a bike rack and a cargo carrier. The only downside so far is that with the hitch installed, the car's clearance is diminished enough that it can scrape the carrier if you go straight up a sloped curb. I installed a 1.5 inch lift kit and that helped some, but the cargo carrier is still liable to scrape when pulling into the driveway. No problems with the bike rack.
Very simple install! Only complaint is that it sits low and will scrape on steep driveway curbs when pulling straight out.
Love it. It's well built and easy enough to install. Perfect for our new bike rack. My only complaint is that it doesn't have a hitch cap (no-one said it would but now I have to find one).
The hitch was delivered in a timely fashion, it fit exactly as advertised. The installation video on the website was very helpful and was an important factor in helping me decide that I could do the installation myself. The wiring harness was also easy to install, but guidance for where and how to route the wire to the battery would have been helpful. I look forward to towing my small fishing boat and small sailboat, something I have not been able to do for several years.

Both boats have seen lots of use in the past year. I also converted the sailboat trailer to haul wood for a new lean to and deck rails. Also bought a small pop-up last weekend and the Jetta pulled it just fine. The only issue has been lowered clearance when leaving driveways.

Overall Im happy with the hitch. Its been great using my Jetta to pull my utility trailer rather that having to use my gas guzzler SUV. The one thing I dont like is how low the hitch is to the ground...I have to watch out for steep inclines where the hitch will hit the ground.

First, this took 20 minutes if you’re good with tools. It looked daunting and I was skeptical at first. Having now done it, it was absolute cake. etrailer includes everything! 1 “pro tip” I suggest for the Jetta, when placing the carriage bolt that mounts parallel to the ground on the passenger side, keep the fishing wire attached. Thread the fishing wire through the hitch when mount and push the bolt back into the frame rail. This accomplishes: wash of mounting and 2 not losing a bolt in the frame rail. I’m impressed with the quickness that it was shipped, ease of comprehending the instructions and ETRAILERS excellent figment guide. 10/10. Ps. This hitch is SOLID.
A Great fit, aligns perfect with Jetta. Love the product helped attaching my bike rack. I actually installed it myself watching the etrailer installation instruction video, Great source to save some money.Talking about etrailer, these folks are amazingly helpful and friendly, very quick in response and adjustments to the orders.
Took me 3 hours...doing it solo without the luxury of an air conditioned shop in FW Tx.
The kit was super easy to follow...although I watched the video a couple of so I never really looked at the paperwork except on how much to torque the bolts.
I don't know if I dorked up the install but the hitch doesn't appear to be as snug against the bumper as I would have liked. But I can put a bike rack and a small cargo carrier on it..so it fits my needs. So I wasn't worried about the wire harness.

I installed the hitch this afternoon. Took about three hours. Installation wasn't difficult. Anyone who is mechanically inclined and knows their way around a tool box cam handle the situation. Would recommend using deep sockets and shallow ones bottom out. I would also recommend installing the hitch while the vehicle is on ramps. Make sure the parking break is in gauged and vehicle is in park.
Product and instructions were great!! The hitch from start to completion took about 2 hours, and the wiring kit took another 1.5 hrs. Thanks for a great kit and instructions.
Arrived on schedule in good condition despite horrible packaging (parts of the Hitch were protruding from the box.

Bought this hitch to haul a small Fourwheeler trailer with our Jetta. Easy install, works great, hasn’t bent or scratched or in any way been damaged with lots of abuse.
All good here! fairly easy to install. carries a bike rack. no issues yet. will wait and see how a few northern ontario winters affect it...cars turn into rust buckets up here

You mentioned that the exhaust side brackets are not matching up. I wanted to see if you could explain in more detail. Would you be able to send a picture?

On the driver side you take down the exhaust mount, 2 bolts, metal bracket with rubber that the muffler attaches to. The hitch goes up where the mount would go then you reattach the exhaust mount on top of the hitch using 2 longer bolts included with the hitch. The 2 holes of the hitch do not line up with the 2 mounting holes on the body of the car. I could only attach one. I’ve read this review before, prop not your website but in regards to the brand hitch. I didn’t feel like taking it down and drilling a larger hole so I bolted one bolt on and had to go to work.

I reached out to the manufacturer and it appears that the exhaust bracket is bent. Bending it back into place will resolve the issue.
Great Quality Product. Fast Shipping. Fits a MK5 TDI with some slight persuasion of pushing the muffler to the side. Otherwise fit and finish is great.
Easy install. Took me and a buddy about an hour and a half on his driveway with basic hand tools. Could prolly do it in less than an hour with a lift and power tools.
Feels pretty solid. I bounced on the receiver without an issue. I got it for a bike rack, and I weigh much more than the less than 100# that the bike and rack would weigh.
Well built hitch. Clear instructions.. Packaged well, arrived in perfect shape. Installed in approx 2 hrs. No drilling, minor trimming of undertray needed ( full size template would be nice) but careful measurement per instructions gets it done. No ball mount carrier included in this one, I had one from my other VW Curt hitch that is the correct height. I will be towing a pop-up camper, and a bike carrier with this hitch, it is easily capable of both tasks.

Working great, black finish is still perfect with no rust after a year. Trailer gave codes on my 2017 VW, so I converted all the trailer lights to LED, no more dash lights, trailer lights are brighter too.
Great product as usual. This is my fourth hitch. Always what is promised. One install suggestion, drill from bottom for the bolt in the tire well. The sound proofing will help with sealing the hole.

Oh, good! What do you carry with the hitch on your Jetta?
The hitch was not easy to install, I knew that and had my mechanic assist with the car up on a lift because I wanted it to be 100% correct and it is. AAA towed my car out of a snowbank using my hitch, so I know it's strong and I have towed my small sailboat without issue, so it's works fine.
Nice quality hitch, heavy duty material with a nice finish. Shipping was super fast. Now for installation, watch the video and look at the directions to make sure you use the correct holes. The supplied pull wires are fantastic and make installation a breeze. The only draw back was my hitch was apparently bent ( im guessing during shipping by the looks of the box) and i had to remove passenger side nuts and drop the hitch back down to do some straightening. After that it went into place easily. I was able to install it myself with the help of a floor jack in less than 2 hours even with the bent pc. Great Hitch

It sounds like that the side brackets were knocked out of alignment which can happen while in transit to our facility or to you. We do have a FAQ that can assist with moving the side brackets of the hitch back into alignment to allow for installation.

Im still very happy with this hitch. Ive used it for my hitch-mounted bicycle rack at least a dozen times in the last year and its excellent. Very happy to have this accessory on our car.
