Option For Preventing Sagging On 2024 Toyota

Updated 12/22/2025 | Published 09/30/2024

Question:

I have a 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander TV, towing a TAB360 trailer with a weight of between 3100-3300 lbs, tongue weight 380-460lbs. Numbers come from a few CAT scale visits Even with the low of 380 measured on level ground off the TV, the TV sags at least 2 inches at the hitch ball, maybe more, which seems to raise the tongue weight more than it should be. Wondering if there is a small weight distribution hitch that can be used in this situation to remove the TV sag? Or should I be looking to stiffen the TV suspension instead? One complicating factor is that we would like to put two bicycles on the tongue eventually, knowing we are already nearing the TV tongue weight spec limit of 500lbs - hoping to offset by packing gear in the rear of the trailer. Any help appreciated.

Hello Stacy, that is a cool little camper. We have a HYK camper that is really similar to that. Using a weight distribution system on your trailer is definitely the route I would go here. Main reason being there are currently no suspension enhancement option for the 2024 Grand Highlander.

What I recommend is the Ble Ox Track Pro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control # BLU36FR. This is made for trailers with a tongue weight between 200 and 600 lbs so your trailer will be right within that range to where you will see effective ride leveling and sway control.

Just keep in mind that the frame brackets for this weight distribution hitch need to be placed on the A-frame between 20" and 25" back from the hitch ball. From the looks of things, your toolbox might pose an obstacle. What I see some people do in this case is create a riser for the toolbox which allows room for the frame brackets. You might have to get creative here but as long as you have room, the # BLU36FR will work great for you. With no suspension enhancement available, this really is your only option. The Blue Ox hitches are known for producing great results. Made here in the USA too.

Hey Stacy, how did things go with the Blue Ox Track Pro on your Grand Highlander and TAB360 setup? Did it help level out the rear sag and keep the ride steady? Your experience could point others in the same situation toward the right fix.
