Question:

I am terminally ill and will soon require a wheelchair pride Jazzy will the stealth hitch for my wifes 2020 Palisade handle the weight of the chair and platform/carrier? I keep seeing bike mounts in comments and want to be certain this stealth hitch is robust enough for our needs

Hey Don, thanks for reaching out! Sorry to hear about your situation though...

The Stealth Hitches Hidden Rack Receiver # 391HYUNPALIS19 for your 2020 Hyundai Palisade has a tongue weight rating of 600 lbs so the hitch is plenty strong enough to handle the weight of both a wheelchair carrier and your Pride Jazzy wheelchair. According to my research your Palisade itself has a tongue weight of 500 lbs though so we need to make sure you remain under that rating since it's the lower of the two.

If you don't already have a carrier then I recommend checking out the Flint Hill Goods 29" x 49" Carrier w/ 60" Ramp # FHG69ZR which has 47" long x 27-1/2" wide interior dimensions and only weighs in at 77 lbs since it has an aluminum construction. I know 77 lbs sounds like a lot, but for a carrier with a ramp that's pretty lightweight.

You will need to be out of the wheelchair to load it so if that sounds like it might be a little too much of a task then I recommend looking for a wheelchair carrier that has a lowering platform that you drive the wheelchair on and then lift it with the press of a button. We don't currently carry any of those type of carriers, but if you do go this route you'll need a 7-Way socket with 12V power.

To get the wiring you can either get the Stealth Hitches Kit # 391HYUNPALIS19T which comes with the receiver, ball mount, and wiring, or you can use the T-Connector Wiring # CU94FR,our Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7, and the No-Drill Mount Bracket # 18136 to get just the wiring.
