Question:
I have a carry-on trailer with an Axis Products Axle 3K8874 - SN 504504 130 - 6/07. I would like to replace to purchase a replacement axle with electric trailer brakes. What axle do I need, what other hardware will I need to convert to electric trailer brakes? Do you recommend replacing the leaf springs at this time? Thank you, Eddie Simmers

Hey Eddie, I do have an option for you but the closest axle we offer for what you're looking for is the Trailer Axle Beam with Easy Grease Spindles # e93GR which measures 94" at the hub face and 79" at the spring center.
Since this'll be used to replace a trailer axle with a 93" hub face, the wheels/tires are going to stick out a 1/2" more on each side At this point, the spring seats can then be cut and rewelded.
To convert your presumably surge brakes to electric, you're going to need to remove the surge coupler or actuator, remove all the lines, and the brake assemblies. If you have 10 inch diameter hub and drums, you may need to replace those as well but If you have 12 inch hub and drums, you can re-use them so long as they are in good shape.
You will then need to install your new electric brake assemblies, like # AKEBRK-7-SA for the left and right hand sides. You will also need a new coupler, which is going to depend on the frame of the trailer.
I've also added an FAQ for you to check out as well as a link to our couplers so you can browse those as well.
