The first step in troubleshooting an electric trailer jack like your Lippert Electric Trailer Jack with Footplate # LC285318 is to use the manual override instead of the power to see if the issue is mechanical or with power.

If you're able to get the leg to retract manually then the issue is with the power but if you aren't able to get the leg to manually retract then it sounds like you may have overextended the jack and the leg is malfunctioning. Should the problem be mechanical (the leg malfunctioning) then you'll actually need to replace the entire jack as Lippert doesn't have any replacement inner legs.

We have a variety of electric jacks if you don't want to replace it with the same one from Lippert. If you want to go this route I highly recommend the Ultra-Fab Electric A-Frame Jack # UF97FR because it operates faster than the other standard jacks so you'll be spending less time waiting for the trailer jack to raise and lower.
