Does The Curt Hitch C13420 Require The Rear Power Latch To Be Replaced On A 2023 Kia Telluride?

I have 2023 Kia Telluride. OEM trailer hitch requires a rear power latch replacement due to potential of wiring shorting out in rear collision. Does the Curt trailer hitch require the latch to be replaced?

Hey Thomas thanks for your question. The Curt Trailer Hitch # C13420 does not require the rear power latch to be replaced. We have done several installs on Telluride models 2020-2024 and a latch replacement has never been needed. I even double checked with Curt and they confirmed this. The latch replacement must be specific to the Kia OEM hitch and is likely something that would only be done at a dealership. The hitch basically just bolts to the frame, and it will have no effect on the vehicles electrical systems.
