Recommended Hitch and Wiring for 2024 Kia Telluride EX Without Tow Package

Question:
I have a 2024 Telluride EX without tow package. I tried to order a tow hitch kit from Kia, March 2024, and told today, April 5th 2024, that Kia stopped selling the hitch kit. The hitch kit also included and replacement latch for the rear hatch which was said had to be replaced to use the kit. Not sure why the latch had to be replaced. So my question, if I ordered a wire harness part e45zr, would I need to be concerned about the latch? I am wanting to tow a 18 foot Z18 bass boat. With that in mind, my second question is what tow hitch and wiring harness would be recommended? Thank you.

I'm not sure why they include that replacement latch but that is not required for any of the aftermarket hitches or wiring. It is probably something related to the installation of the OEM hitch. The etrailer # e45ZR you referenced is what I would recommend. This hitch has a bolt-on installation and a concealed cross tube for a nice clean look. It has a matte black finish and comes with a limited lifetime warranty.
Since you have the EX you will need the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C29ZV. This plugs into the connection points in your rear cargo area and then you will need to run the hot lead up to your battery. It will provide you with a 4-way to power your trailer's signal lights. If you need a ball mount, check out the Curt Towing Starter Kit for 2" Hitches # C45534.
I have attached some installation videos below for your reference.

I have a 2024 Kia Telluride EX and have recently installed the recommended trailer hitch, e45ZR, and wire harness, C29ZV. I realize now my boat trailer is a 5 flat due to surge brakes. Is there an adapter I can employ to remedy the situation other than using my lockout pin on the trailer?
