Very happy with my hitch purchase from etrailer. The hitch shipped the same day I ordered it, and it arrived literally the next day.
The hitch included clear instructions and I installed it in about 90 minutes. Great experience from end to end with this purchase.

Your experience here is basically the poster child for what we hope everyone can experience too! Thanks for sharing the photo -- hitch looks great!

2025 Kia Telluride

Very good overall. A few things others may want to consider. The packaging is poor. The hitch is shipped in a cardboard box with no protection, so there were some dings and scratches. Having a can of glossy black spray paint available for touch ups available is a good idea.
Watch the video(s) before attempting, they are a helpful supplement to the instructions provided.
A couple notes from my installation: I recommend removing the plastic bumper cover before you mount the receiver. After removing, mount and hand tighten the receiver with the four smaller bolts to determine the exact location of the hitch and then mark the location for the bumper cover cuts with a marker. You can remove the bumper cover by just removing two screws and two push pins. This allowed me to make much more accurate and clean cuts with an oscillating saw. You can reattach the bumper cover without having to take down the hitch.

The only significant challenge was installing and tightening the two long bolts above the muffler (passenger side) due to the heat shield making the space around the bolt heads very tight. I hand to use a punch to pound the reward most bolt into the hole since I couldn't fit it in by hand. Then, I couldn't fit a socket or the round part of a hand wrench around the bolt head since there's not enough space and I couldn't reach both sides of the bolt since the muffler is in the way. Ultimately, I found I could fit the crescent (open) side of a hand wrench around the bolt head and wedge it against the car's frame to keep it from spinning while I tightened the nut side with a socket wrench.
You may want to consider borrowing a powered right angle impact wrench - or at least have someone else hold the crescent wrench while you tighten the bolt with a socket wrench.

Lastly, I backed my Telluride up to the back of my (level) garage and used the downward slope of my driveway to give me a few extra inches of clearance to work. Ramps would have been much better. Borrow a set or use some blocks if possible.

Despite the challenges, it turned out great!

I love the detail! Thank you so much for taking the time to write all that out. Anyone who comes across your review is going to be glad they did because of all the info theyll glean. What all do you plan to use the hitch for?

by:

Customer service at trailer is top notch! Although the box arrived damaged and parts of the hitch were scratched, but this is only the fault of the shipping company. Overall the hitch is in good shape and mounted perfectly on the Telluride. Good instructions, great videos from etrailer, and a solid product from Curt!

by:

I followed the installation directions for our 2023 Kia Telluride hitch carefully. To facilitate installation, since I have no lift, I had the car extended over a down facing driveway apron and raised up on blocks. It was still a little challenging to get the parts behind the rubber exhaust pipe hangers. A car jack and ropes helped hold the hitch in place while the bolts were installed. You have to be bold when cutting a hole in the bumper for the hitch to stick through. Once installed, the hitch has worked perfectly on many bicycle excursions with either of the two Curt bicyle racks I purchased - a four bike hanger rack (which can handle three adult bikes) and a two bike flat rack. Especially for the price, this has been an excellent solution for us. I would comment on the bike racks separately.

2012 Subaru Outback Wagon

Kia Telluride 2020: Fit was perfect, video on Youtube was excellent, installation was straightforward. It took less time than I thought it would. I did a 2012 Outback a few years ago and that required removing the bumper, so I expected a few hour job. The Telluride was less than an hour, and would have been faster if not for the stoopid rubber exhaust hangers that made it so hard to drop the exhaust.

Kia

The trailer hitch fit my 2025 KIA Telluride perfectly. There was only one problem, it arrived a little beat up.

by:
2024 Kia Telluride

Arrived quickly and fit nicely. The box was a little beat up and there were minor scratches on the hitch but all the hardware and instructions were still attached. One thing to note is the instructions do not mention removing the resonator heat shield, but on my 2024 Xline that made getting the hitch in place way easier even after removing the rubber exhaust hangers. Overall, I am highly satisfied with the quality and fit of the hitch and the price and shipping speed of e-trailer.

by:
2021 Kia Telluride

Excellent product. Installation was as described in instructions and video. Solid fit to Telluride and does not detract cosmetically. Puts my bike rack exactly where I want it. Have not used to tow, but expect no problems as with other e-trailer products we have installed and used in other vehicles.

by:

Directions were easy to follow. Easy to install with a few sockets and wrenches.

by:

Delivered quickly and good installation instructions from the video. Think it’ll work well for us.

This is the third hitch I've bought from etrailer.com and it was the third great experience. The website is great--easy to find the hitch with the exact fit to your car. The ordering was simple and shipping to my mechanic worked perfectly. I picked up the car yesterday after having the mechanic install the hitch and he reported that it fit like a glove with the predrilled bolt holes matching those on the frame exactly.

I would highly recommend using etrailer to anyone in need of putting a hitch on their vehicle!

by:

This is the second hitch I purchased from etrailer and I am extremely satisfied with the video's provided on the website, which helped me decide on the specific hitch I wanted (this one mounted higher and required a minor cutting of the removable bumper panel which I wanted for a clean custom look and for use of my son's platform dirt bike carrier). The video's were "spot-on" and super accurate and easy to understand, which helped greatly with the installation. etrailer is a "top-notch" company and has accurate information for specific installations. The hitch arrived on time and in great condition (packaged appropriately for the delivery). The hitch is of great quality and workmanship (welds and finish). The instructions to install were accurate and easy to understand. The dimensions to cut the removable bumper panel were also accurate and easy to mark out. Installation came out perfect! I will always purchase my hitches from etrailer. I have recommended this company to two friends and they are both satisfied with the company and products purchased.

Perfectly!! I love it!! And recommend it to other Telluride Owners. One ordered and awaiting arrival.

Add the trailer hitch and wiring harness to my newly purchase 2023 Telluride. etrailer provided excellent instructions for installation. Straight forward installation. A little disappointed that Kia did not have plug in plan for adding a harness and would require to run wiring all the way to battery but Etrailer instructions - worked well. Use it often for loading up the mountain bikes! Very much appreciate the etrailer install videos!

by:

This hitch looks and feels like a beast! Once installed and fasteners tightened it feels like it’ll tow every ounce of its rated weight.

I installed by myself in about 4 hours (which included a trip to Wally World to get a new jack when my husky decided it was done.

A couple of tips that I guarantee will make your install easier:

#1: DEFINITELY install/screw in the bolts on the exhaust (passenger) side FIRST. This is exactly what the instructions say to do, but me being the “genius” I am decided to forget about that part and screw in the driver side first.

2.) You would be well served to purchase an “exhaust hanger removal tool” for removing the hangers from the exhaust pipe. They’re all over Amazon for $16-$25. I recommend the Lisle 38350 pliers. $16.19 and 1-day shipping. If you have never dealt with removing exhaust hangers before, I promise you it will be worth every penny (even if you use it only once). It’ll save much time and many headaches.

3.) When it comes time to trim the bumper panel to allow room for the hitch, use a jigsaw with laminate blade. My cordless dewalt jigsaw w/laminate blade cut through the panel like butter and made getting a perfect fit very easy (see pictures). Obviously this requires removing the panel altogether, but I would recommend doing this regardless of what tool you’re using for the trimming.

Also, the included instructions for the 2022 Telluride version show the spare tire being lowered by using a wrench on the underside of the vehicle. While this is possible, it is exponentially easier to lower it by using a 13/16” socket on the bolt accessed from under the removable back floorboard panel (if my description of the location is confusing, see page 6-16 of the ‘22 Telluride Owner’s Manual for an illustration and better description).

Overall I give this 5 stars. I am by no means an expert (or even moderate, for that matter) “car guy”, and was able to install by myself in one day. That being said, I am above average in strength so don’t assume you will be able to do it alone - the hitch is pretty hefty (which of course is a good thing), especially when maneuvering it while on your back under the car.

If you follow the 3 tips listed above, I guarantee it will significantly reduce your install time and result in a cleaner, more professional look.

2020 Kia Telluride

Everything is bolt on and extremely easy to install if you follow the video instruction or the instructions that come with the product. In addition to the hitch, I also got the harness which was easy to install. Thanks etrailer for making my family road trip happen.

by:

I purchased this after learning the new telluride I ordered would not have a hitch so I contacted e trailer and purchased what I needed. The hitch was a breeze to install the wiring was a little more challenging but both have been great! Thanks for providing a great product at a competitive cost.

The hitch receiver works perfectly.
Was
kind of tough to install by myself though. No fault of the hitch.

by:

Perfect! Everything lined up as usual, my 3rd receiver from Etrairler. Order Tuesday at 3:00, got home in Pittsburgh at 3:30 on Thursday, it was on my porch. I’m 64 yrs old and installed it by myself in 1 1/2 hrs. Be prepared to cut a slot in the painted area of your bumper, you have to or the holes will not line up, trust me. Metric sockets and combo wrenches are a must. I used a hack saw and utility knife to cut my slot, worked well. Great help and service from Adam E.

Fit perfectly and instructions were well written.

This was purchased for a new, 2024 Kia Telluride. The hitch arrived VERY quickly, and I took to a local shop for installation. Everything worked out GREAT! It will mainly be used for a bike rack, with options for other stuff. I am VERY happy with how simple the whole process was. GREAT JOB ETRAILER!

  • Do 2024 Kia Telluride's Come With A Trailer Hitch And Wiring Already Included
Kia Tellurides are in our install shop all the time for hitch and wiring installs since Kia typically will not install them at the factory. Manufacturers use "tow package" as a buzz word to charge you more typically so you'll want to get explicit descriptions of what is included with the vehicle. Hey Thomas thanks for your question. The Curt Trailer Hitch # C13420 does not require the rear power latch to be replaced. We have done several installs on Telluride models 2020-2024 and a latch replacement has never been needed. I even double checked with Curt and they confirmed this.
