Expert Reply:
The Stromberg Carlson Electric Trailer Jack # SC63VR will require a 12V battery that can handle a 30 amp draw. You will want to choose a battery based on the amp hours. A smaller battery like a lawn mower or motorcycle battery could potentially work, but you won't get much use out of it before needing to recharge.
If it had a 30 amp hour rating you could get an hour out of it assuming you fully discharged the battery. Fully discharging the battery isn't something you want to do so realistically that time will be cut in half. It would be best to use a larger battery like a car battery. If you decide to use a smaller battery the jack does come with an emergency crank.
