Recommended Replacement Gas Strut For A Solera RV Awning Arm

Published 07/19/2023

Question:

I have a 2016 Forest River Wildwood RV, 33foot with a Solera Adjustable pitch Awning. One of the Pistons has gone bad causing the awning to on that one side. I am looking to replace the piston and I am having a problem finding the exact part number out there to purchase. If there is a piston that is comperable and can withstand more wind with the awning, that would be great. Even just the original OEM part would be great as well. Here is the part #: Stabilus Lift-O-Mat 654150 0550N 348/15 C 15. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

While we don't carry the exact gas strut that your Solera Awning is currently using there is a replacement with part # LC280343, with the only difference being the 124lbs of pressure versus the 120lbs of pressure your current strut has. The extra 4lbs of pressure will also slightly help with your wind issues, but if the wind picks up to 25mph or higher you should retract your awning to prevent damage to the arms and fabric.
