Video Transcript for Review of Lippert Components RV Awning Parts - Replacement Pitch Arm - LC375994

Ellen: Hey, everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. Today, we're taking a quick look at the replacement pitch arm assembly for Solera standard flat awning support arm. Now, this is going to be the portion of your support arm for your awning that actually lets you make an adjustment so that you can pitch one side down to let any rain drip off of the one side. So if you leave your awning level, it can actually collect condensation and then cause issues with being a big puddle in the middle of your awning. So this allows us to just adjust one side down so that it can all drain off to one side.

Now the retaining washers that are needed for your installation are going to be sold separately. You can pick those up here at eachtrailer.com using part number LC282484. Those are sold separately. And basically this is just an articulating arm here, so we'll have our friction pivot point that you can just move that angle out to get your awning where it needs to be. And then it doesn't affect the awning retracting at all whenever you're ready to load up and move out for the day, and hit the road again. So this is going to work for your 69 inch standard flat awning support arm.

That part number is sold separately for the complete kit and that is LC281154. As far as the length of this portion here, just for reference, it is 31.5 inches long from end to end. The distance between the mounting holes, the very end here to the furthest one, is about just about 30 and five eighths inches center to center. And then about 29.5 inches to the secondary hole in the back here.So it will have two holes for mounting there. I just wanting to give you those for reference.

This larger, outer tube is about an inch wide. The smaller inner tube is about three quarters of an inch wide. The length between those articulating parts is about 17 and seven eighths inches for this larger portion and about 13 and three quarters roughly from the end to this inner portion here where it meets up with our larger guy. It does have a black powder coat finish, so you shouldn't have to worry about this rusting or corroding anytime soon. And it does already come assembled with that friction fitting in the middle there.

It is made in USA and that's going to do it for our look at the replacement pitch arm assembly for the Solera 69 inch standard flat awning support arm.

@Michael I am glad it is working great for you. What kind of trailer do you have the full awning on?

by:

I can't even rate this product as average because it fails to operate as designed. With the pivot bolt loosened the arm will not flex in the middle to allow pitching the end of the awning down. The smaller inner portion of the arm lacks clearance with the larger outer part of the arm to allow movement of the arm in the middle. Not sure how this made it through quality control (or if there is any at all). That being said at least I can extend and retract the awning now.

Thanks for reaching out Jethro! Sorry to hear that happening but maybe this will help. Sometimes the arm sections can get slightly twisted, which can cause the inner arm to bind against the outer channel. Try loosening the mounting hardware slightly and cycling the awning in and out to see if the arm realigns itself naturally. I'd also inspect the pivot area for excess powder coating, burrs, or slightly bent metal edges that could be creating interference between the arm sections. In some cases, carefully loosening the pivot bolt just enough to relieve binding without introducing too much play can help restore movement. Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Perfect fit. Easy to install. I have a manual Solera awning.

by:

It fit perfectly. The only thing I would suggest is to include the spring washers with the arm.

by:

The replacement part fit well and got us up and running again, but overall the quality and durability of the part is not great. If we have issues again I will probably have a local fab shop make a better part.

by:

Washers are overpriced. We were able to replace the pitch arm ourselves, definitely a 2 person job, with your products pretty easily, however, just the washers price was pretty pricey.

by:

This item was super easy to order and arrived quick and fast. I even liked the video they posted showing the dimensions of the part I ordered. It was perfect fit and I installed it in minutes. Will definitely use them again.

by:

This would’ve been 5 stars if it would’ve came with the retainer clips that have to be removed to replace the arm. Other than that it’s an exact replacement part for what broke.

by:

The pitch arm itself is fine, perfect replacement. However be aware that the push nuts that hold the pins in place when you reinstall, will be destroyed when you remove them, and replacement push nuts for this product are 15$ EACH, so a total of XX$ MORE for the hardware to put this part on with. That is JUST the push nuts, not new pins or anything.
I am super unhappy about that. It is bad enough to have to pay XXX$ for 2 pieces of metal that have a bolt for a hinge, and 3 holes drilled in the ends, but then to pay another XX$ just for the stuff you need to put the new one on, and not even a full kit at that is horrible. I think we will attempt to find actual pins that use locking clips or cotter pins as the retaining medium, since those are common and only a few pennies each. [online] also sells something that looks like it will work for 25 cents each. attached is a pic of the hardware I am speaking of.

The part itself has been flawless, we also bought another one since the originals were damaged when we had a sudden snow that we were unprepared for. As for the pushnuts, I was able to find entire replacement kits on ebay for all of the retaining pins and pushnuts as a kit. They were inexpensive considering it is an entire hardware replacement kit for one side of the entire awning system. I also discovered that if you are handy enough, which my husband is, you can carefully use a punch or other metal rod that is the same size as the pin, to gently push it out of the holes, including the push nut, so we were able to replace the pitch arm and we only had to use a couple of the push nuts from the kit. Hope this helps.

The exact part we needed!

by:

Arm broke at pivot point 4 months after I installed it.

by:

Perfect replacement part. I installed it in about 15 minutes!!! Shipping was same day I ordered it which was a Sunday and it was delivered within a couple of days. Thank you!!!

by:

Fast delivery, free shipping, looks just like the part we had. Manufacturer only sold the whole arm of the awning (over$500) but we only needed this part!
Thank you so much!

by:

Quality is so abysmal they will not stand behind this product for more than 30 days. All in shipped for ${XX] for a thin "steel" bar that hinges in the middle. See photos of break location for future reference.

Don't forget to buy $[XX] (each) M8x18mm lock washers to install the arm.

Note: it did fit, just didn't last more than 30 days.

by:

The part fit perfect Thanks for the speedy delivery.

Mike: United States Navy Retired

by:

I needed 2 $[XX] washers. That wasn’t explained clearly. I needed to fix my awning this weekend. I went to an RV store and bought 2 for $[XX]. You guys are thieves and should be ashamed. I don’t care how much I need something again. I will never order from you again.

by:

The actual Solara (Lippert) replacement part. Fit perfectly.

by:

Exactly what I needed. Same as OEM. Replaced a broken arm due to wind. Easy to install.

Solid product. Still good as new.

by:

All set! The correct part shipped to the camp site office. Ready to hit the road again soon. Thanks etrailer.

by:

Cus serv & shipping 1st class.
Thank
you guys you are the best.
Though charging $31.98 for a
one 1/2 inch star washer, are you kidding me! Called Lippert and got it for $6.98

by:

Joy was very helpful in ordering the correct part for my travel trailer

by:

I ordered two control arms, and one arrived in a timely manner. The other one is lost in the UPS system. Etrailer is trying to resolve this.

by:

It was exactly what we needed to repair our damaged awning arm. What a savings for us to be able to do it ourselves. Thank you.

by:

Not exact same as OEM parts but good fit and easy enough to install.

Product still working great.

by:

Great product and easy installation. Zero issues. Get replacement push lock/washers to expedite replacement time. Or, you'll need to be very careful to reuse (note: this is not recommended but if youre in a bind you do what you have to).
