Does the 2020 Jeep Cherokee Trail Hawk require a tow car charge line kit. When being flat towed.?

Expert Reply:

Yes, you will need to install a charge line kit, like # RM-156-25, to prevent the battery from draining while you flat tow your 2020 Jeep Cherokee. If your motorhome doesn't already have a line ran to the 12v accessory pin on the 7-way then you'll also want to pick up part # RM-156-75.

Baseplate: Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-521451-5. Note: these baseplates will not fit models with Active Air Shutters.

If you have Active Air Shutters then I recommend the etrailer Invisible Base Plate Kit # e98951 instead.

Tow Bar: If you go with the Roadmaster baseplate then I recommend the etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bar # e74ZR, if you go with the etrailer baseplate the I recommend the # e34ZR instead.

Both of these tow bars come with safety cables included as well as an adjustable head and shank in order to help keep the tow bar level between the motorhome and Cherokee.

Tow Bar Wiring Kit: Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267. This kit will include everything need to properly display your motorhome's traffic signals through the tail lights on your Cherokee.

Braking System: Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # SM99251. This system is a one-time installation that will be ready to go whenever you need to flat tow your Jeep. It utilizes an inertia sensor as well as the brake lights on your motorhome to activate for no false braking. The indicator light from the this kit will tie into the brake light switch wire, which is dark green for your Cherokee.
