I recommend using the T-One Wiring Harness # 118379 for your 2004 Toyota Tacoma PreRunner. This tees in behind the tail lights and gives you the basic 4-Way wiring needed to activate your trailer light functions.
I also recommend picking up the mounting brackets # 18144 and # 18140 so you can keep the 4-Way connector next to your hitch receiver.
