To install the Buyers Products 90-Degree Door Check and Hold Back # 337BM2395AA11, the side with the spring needs to be mounted to your door frame (at the top) while the arm without the spring needs to be mounted to your door itself.

The correct hardware will depend on the material being mounted to. When mounting to a very heavy material like a thick ply wood or a thicker steel using some #12 or #14 self tapping screws would be an great choice. If you're going into thinner material you would need to use bolts with large washers.

When installing the Buyers Products 90-Degree Door Check and Hold Back # 337BM2395AA11, you will install it with the small spring towards the hinge side of the door.
