Question:

I'm planning on going dry camping along a stream and would like a portable solar panel option to recharge my phone, a small rechargeable fan, and a few other small electronics. What would be the best panel for me? Robbie

Hey Robbie,

The etrailer Portable Solar Panel with PWM Solar Charge Controller - 100 Watt # e28VV would be a great option to recharge your electronics while dry camping. This panel has magnetic ends to easily open it up and fold it closed for storage, it's made of impact resistant materials so you won't have to worry about it being too fragile if things get rowdy at the campsite, and puts out about 5 amps per hour in peak conditions. The included solar charge controller has four USB ports to plug in your charging cables so you won't have to bring a battery along if you're trying to minimize your load.

We've actually used one of these a bit for trainings on solar and while out at conventions and decided to mount the solar charge controller to the standoff leg with a couple of bolts and cut the included wires to fit this shorter length. You don't have to do the same but it makes setting it up fast and easy if you're using it for smaller electronics.
