Troubleshooting The Tekonsha 7-Way RV-Style Tester That Isn''t Lighting Up For 12V
Updated 07/14/2022 | Published 07/12/2022 >
Question:
I plug in the 6562 Tekonsha Emulator and the BU lights up but not the 12v led. Brakes have worked fine for years and now something is up. Pull the manual lever and the BK lights up like it should. I push the brake pedal and LT,RT, BK, and BU stay lit. Thanks.

The reason your 12V LED light isn't lighting up on your:
-Tekonsha 7-Way, RV-Style Tester for Brake Controllers # 6562 can be attributed to one of two things.
1. You have a bad ground/no 12V battery power is supplied to connector,
Or
2. You have a loose connection in circuit under test.
Seeing as though it was working before I would tend to believe it is more attributed to a bad ground/loose connection.
What you're going to need to do is go over your wiring and ensure nothing is loose or damaged. For your ground, ensure that it is not corroded and in proper working condition.
If your ground is corroded, simply clean the connection and check again. If the issue persists, you might also try re-grounding in a different location that is clean and rust free.
If there is still no luck after you've gone over your wiring and checked your grounds, feel free to come back and we can continue to troubleshoot.
