Question:

I have a 2016 Toyota Tundra Crewmax limited 5.7l with offroad package, 4wd, factory tow package with built in brake controller. It is rated for towing 10,000lbs and 1,000lbs on the hitch. We are buying a new tandem axle camper about 27ft long and a dry weight of 6000lbs. I am looking at the 1,000lbs equalizer 4 way sway and load leveling and possibly Timbren or Blue sumosprings. Would this be a good combo or am I over thinking this setup? Thanks

A properly installed and rated weight distribution system like the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control - 10,000 lbs GTW, 1,000 lbs TW # EQ37100ET will keep you level. Additional suspension enhancement won't really be necessary, but it wouldn't hurt.

Based on the weight of the camper the # EQ37100ET would be the right system with a tongue weight range of 600-1,000 lbs. Tongue weight is the most important factor when choosing a WDH and you want to make sure your loaded tongue weight falls within the range of the system. The Equal-i-zer will do a great job of keeping you level and also reducing any sway you may experience.

If you decide to add suspension enhancement to your 2016 Toyota Tundra, I would choose the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs - Rear Axle # SSR-610-40 over the Timbren. These would also be a great choice if you are looking to stay level when hauling a heavy load or towing something other than your camper. The impact on unloaded ride quality will be minimal with these installed, especially compared to the Timbren.
