Question:
Hi! I have a 2007 Mercedes GL450 without a factory hitch. I’d like to install a 7way plug that can control trailer brakes. Is this possible on this car? Are there any MB computer /programming issues that would prevent it from functioning properly? What products would you recommend? Thank you so much!

In order to tow a trailer with brakes using a 2007 Mercedes-Benz GL450 you'll first need to start with a trailer hitch and for this you'll want to use the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C13102. Then you can move onto the wiring. we'll need to start with a 4-way and adapt this to a 7-way. I recommend using the Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 119250KIT and then the 4 to 7-Way with 4-Way Adapter part # ETBC7L. This combo is designed to be used with a wireless brake controller which means you don't have to splice into the brake pedal or drill into the dash. I recommend the Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller part # C51180.
