Question:
What about a trailer brake? How would you add one to the Santa Cruz to go along with the hitch

It sounds like you would like to add a trailer brake controller to your 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz to use along with the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C23WR. The first thing you will want to add, in addition to the trailer hitch, is wiring. You are going to need a 4-way in order to power your trailer's signal lights.
If you have the factory tow package and tow package you need the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # CU94FR. This wiring harness will plug into the connection point in the rear of your vehicle. If you do not have the factory tow package/port you will need to use Wiring Harness # C59236.
Once you have installed the 4-way you will be able to use the 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit for Trailer Brake Controller Installation # ETBC7L. This kit comes with the wiring, adapter, and everything else you need in order to add a 7-way to your Santa Cruz. Following the installation of the # ETBC7L you will be able to add a brake controller.
For a brake controller, I recommend the Curt Echo # C51180. This brake controller will plug in line with your 7-way at the back of the vehicle. It is a proportional brake controller that is controlled via Bluetooth through the app on your existing smartphone.

I have a 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz. I purchased a travel trailer from Camping World and had an electronic brake control installed. The travel trailer was stolen. I want to remove the electronic brake control, as it is no longer needed. Can I remove the brake control monitor from under the dash or is there more to it? Do I need to worry about it being hooked up to anything else, such as the vehicle's braking system or something under the hood? I am definitely not mechanically inclined; but I can use a screwdriver. I just don't want to have to pay someone to remove it.
