Correct Spare Hub and Drum For 2014 Airstream 23D With 3000lb Dexter Axle

Updated 07/23/2021 | Published 07/22/2021

Question:

I am wanting to buy a spare brake drum with bearings, all lubricated and ready to install. My intention is to carry this with us as we travel as preparation for a probleminch we hope to never have! So, my obvious question is which one do we need? I looked at one of the axles on our trailer, and it says along with a boatload of other numbers DEX # 1616631 The trailer is a 2014 Airstream 23D Can you point me to the exact right one or ONES if there are several from which to choose? Thank you so much

Thanks for the picture of your axle tag!

Based on the information my contact at Dexter was able to pull from the axle tag your 2014 Air Stream 23D uses a hub with inner bearing # L68149, outer bearing # L44649, and grease seals # RG06-050.

For a spare hub there are a few different options based on your bolt pattern.

The Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly - 3.5K E-Z Lube Axles - 10" Diameter - 6 on 5-1/2 - Pre-Greased # AKHD-655-35-EZ-K you were looking at has the less common 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern, but chances are your trailer has the more common 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern instead and would need the # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K instead. Both of these options come with everything you need, and are pre-greased ready to install.

You can confirm this by measuring your current wheels following the included help article.

I included videos of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
