Question:
I have a 40.5inch x 48inch Harbor Freight trailer of which I would like to put 33x12.5 R17 tires on. This will be towed behind a 4 door Jeep Wrangler on forest service roads to camp sites. Could you recommend an axle upgrade to fit my needs?

Given the size of your trailer, I don't believe any of the off-the-shelf axles we carry would be short enough for your needs. If you can send me the hub face to hub face dimension and the center to center spring seat spacing, I'd be happy to check our offerings for you. I'll also need to know the bolt pattern of the wheels you're wanting to use.
If we don't offer a beam-type axle that will work for you, we do offer the Timbren Axle-Less suspension such as part # ASR2KHDS02 which would allow you to eliminate your existing axle beam and leaf springs. The spindles on this unit are compatible with an idler hub, part # AKIHUB-550-35-EZ-K or a hub/drum, part
# AKHD-550-35-EZ-K if you want to add electric brakes. You'd also need brake assemblies like part
# AKEBRK-35L-SA for the left and # AKEBRK-35R-SA for the right.
Both hubs include the bearings, races, grease seal, dust cap and lug nuts. The best part is that both have a 5 on 5 bolt pattern which matches late model (2007 and up) Jeep Wrangler wheel bolt pattern so you can use the same wheels as your Wrangler, which is a popular option for many folks.
I've linked to a video explaining how the Trimbren Axle-Less suspension works.
