You will need to verify the weight of your specific vehicle by checking owners manual or simply running over the scales. However, a simple search online shows 2015 Ford F-150 XLT 5.0L V8 4WD Super Cab with a long box to have a published curb weight 4,887 lbs. If you have a shorter bed, or a V6 then your vehicle will have a lesser curb weight.
Items needed for flat towing your 2015 Ford F-150 are, base plate kit, tow bar, safety cables, lighting solution and a supplemental braking system. We also suggest that you consult your owner's manual for any specific listed items or guidelines.
The only vehicle specific item for your Ford F-150 is the needed bases plates. I recommend the Roadmaster EZ4 Base Plate Kit # RM-524431-4. This is Roadmaster's crossbar-style brackets that are virtually invisible, easy to mount and simple to remove. These brackets install on your Ford F-150's frame to provide attachment points for your tow bar.
For a tow bar that is compatible with the EZ4 Base Plates, I suggest you select the Roadmaster BlackHawk 2 All Terrain Tow Bar # RM-422. This will allow you to use the quick-disconnects on the EZ4 Base Plates for fast and easy hookup and disconnect. The hassle-free latches on this hitch-mounted tow bar let you easily release your car, even at a hard angle or on unlevel ground. It is stainless steel with telescoping arms and large hookup radius making connecting a snap and easily folds up to store on your RV.
For the required safety cables, I recommend the Roadmaster 80 inch Coiled Safety Cables # RM-653. These also have a 10,000 pound weight capacity.
You will need lighting as well which I suggest the Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit # RM-15267. With this diode kit you use your Ford F-150's tail lights and wiring system while preventing feedback from your RV. This wires 2-wire and 3-wire systems to operate as a combined lighting systems and includes 7-wire to 6-wire Flexo-Coil electrical cord.
For a supplemental braking system, one of the best options available is the Blue Ox Patriot Portable Braking System # BLU37TR; and the required relay # RM-88400. This is a great proportional braking system that will physically press down on the towed vehicle's brake pedal at the same time and with the same intensity that you apply to them in your motorhome.
A high-low adapter may be needed to raise or lower the height of the tow bar so that it stays within 3 inches of level at either end. I have attached a helpful article that explains the measurements you can take to help you determine what you will need. I have included a link that will take you to our available selection of high-low adapters.
