Extending the Cable of PD92201 Charge Wizard Display
Updated 03/26/2021 | Published 03/24/2021 >
Question:
I would like to extend the cable between my PD9160 non-Lithium and the PD92201 Charge Wizard so that the PD9105 remote can be inside the trailer Vs within 5 feet of the PD9160. Can I just cut the 5 feet of cable supplied with the PD92201 in half, add the desired amount of 4 conductor cable shielded or non-shielded? needed to the place I wish to have the PD92201 mounted, right along side the 12 volt battery monitoring metering. Just AN FYI, my PD9160 is mounted inside the front of my 5th wheel compartment where the batteries are located Vs near the actual distribution made by WFCO that is in the very rear of the trailer, some 30 feet apart. The WFCO 8955 power supply is a great paper weight. Thanks for the help, have a great day!

I reached out to my contact at Progressive Dynamics regarding the Progressive Dynamics # PD92201 Charge Wizard, and was told, "Yes," you can cut the cable and splice in additional length. They advised to use shielded cable and not to exceed 20 foot in total length. If it were me, I would use good 18 gauge shielded cable and try for the 30 foot you want.
