Question:

I only have a four wire flat plug on my trailer that I am adding e-brakes to. 23-468-469,AKHD-545-35-EZ-K What do I have to do to wire these? Also do the hubs on the trailer come off completely and the new drums go on?

We can absolutely help you find the parts you need for this!

If your current trailer only has a 4 way, you will need to start by adding a 7 way plug; I recommend using one with a junction box like the Trailer Wiring 7-Way Upgrade Kit w/ Junction Box and RV Style Connector # HS381-9000 to keep the wiring clean and organized.

You will need to remove the existing hubs in order to install the Dexter # 23-468-469. Once you've done this, you'll want to run the wires that went into the 4 way directly to that junction box and add wires from each brake assembly to the trailer; you'll also run these directly to that junction box. You may need some # 12-1-1 for the wire for the # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K brakes and you can make your connections with some heat shrink butt connectors # DW05745-5. Once you get the brakes wired up and connected to the junction box, you'll have a working brake system on your trailer.
