Question:

I’ve got a 2015 2500 GMC 4 wheel drive I tow behind my class A motor home I buying a 2021 2500 GMC 4wheel drive will it take the same base plate on the pickup If not which one do I need i got the blue ox

The Chevy/GMC trucks underwent a generational design change for the 2020 model year, so the base plates that fit your 2015 GMC Sierra 2500 will not fit your 2021 GMC Sierra 2500. As of this writing, Blue Ox does not have an option for base plates that fit your truck but there is an option from Roadmaster with the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM86FR.

I have added a photo a customer sent in showing these base plates on their GMC Sierra 2500 so you can see how it will look on your truck. For a tow bar, you can either use a Roadmaster tow bar like the Roadmaster BlackHawk 2 All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar # RM-422, or if you already have a Blue Ox tow bar like the Blue Ox Avail Tow Bar # BX7420 you can adapt it to the Roadmaster base plates with the Roadmaster Adapter Kit for Blue Ox Motorhome Mounted Tow Bars # RO64FR.

To complete your towing set up, you will need wiring and a braking system if you don't have them, and for the wiring I recommend the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267, and for the braking system the Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # DM86VR (for motorhomes with standard brakes) or for a motorhome with air brakes, the Demco SBS Air Force One Supplemental Braking System # DM26VR.
