Flat Towing Equipment Needs for 2021 Chevy Equinox

According to Roadmaster, their # RM-523193-5 direct connect base plate is a confirmed fit for the 2021 Chevy Equinox. The # BX1689 you'd looked at is a fit for the previous generation Equinox, and wouldn't be a fit for your 2021 model.
To flat tow your vehicle, you'll need a tow bar, base plates, a taillight wiring harness, safety cables, a supplemental braking system and and possibly a high/low adapter if there's a greater than 3 inch height difference between the 18-1/2 inch base plate height (assuming the vehicle is at stock ride height on the stock tire size) and the height of the receiver on the motorhome. If this difference is greater than 3 inches +/-, you'll need the appropriate high/low adapter to get it within that range. I'll link you to our selection of adapters.
For a tow bar, I'd recommend the Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain tow bar, part # RM-522. The Falcon All Terrain will allow you to connect up even if the car isn't perfectly lined up behind the motorhome. Just connect the tow bar to the base plates and drive off slowly. The arms of the tow bar will self-center and lock into place once the vehicle is centered behind the motorhome. The bar is non-binding, which means you won't need to fight to unhook when the vehicle and motorhome aren't on ground that's perfectly level. For safety cables, use # RM-643
For wiring, the kit needed will depend on if your Equinox is a Premier model or not. For the Premier with LED taillights, use # RM-152-98146-7, or for non-Premier models with incandescent taillights, use # RM26FR.
For a braking system, I really like a portable system like the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR. By using a portable system, you'll avoid a time-consuming and likely expensive installation. If you should change vehicles in the future, the Patriot II can easily be swapped into the new vehicle. Installation/set-up takes just a few moments. You'll also need a # RM-9332 12-volt outlet and a # RM-156-25 charge line kit to keep the battery topped off while towing.
