How do I install this Part # RM-766 on Buick Enclave, Year 2011? I do not intend to use braking system.

Based on my research, your 2011 Buick Enclave does not require that the battery be disconnected to flat tow. The purpose of the Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect, # RM-766, is to provide a constant charge to your towed vehicle's battery if the vehicle manufacturer requires the battery to be disconnected when flat towing. I recommend checking your owners manual to verify if the battery on your Enclave must be disconnected to flat tow.

If you would like to install this item on your 2011 Buick Enclave, then you first want to disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal and then the cable from the positive battery terminal.

Next, you will want to find a suitable location to mount the solenoid. The ideal location will be near the positive terminal of the battery as the cable from the solenoid labeled Positive Post must reach the positive terminal of the battery. Also, the solenoid will generate heat so I would recommend attaching it to a metal surface away from wires, rubber or plastic.

After that, attach the cable from the solenoid labeled Positive Post to the positive terminal on the vehicle battery. Then you will want to attach the cable from the solenoid labeled Positive Cable to the positive cable from the vehicle battery using the included hardware and heat shrink wrap.

The white wire from the solenoid should be grounded to a good chassis ground or a clean, bare metal surface. The brown wire from the solenoid will attach to the tail light circuit of the tow bar wiring harness that is used to operate the Buicks tail lights when towing.

If you need a tow bar wiring harness, then I would recommend using the Roadmaster Tail Light Wiring Kit with Bulbs, # RM-155. This kit does not require you to splice into your vehicles tail light circuits eliminating the potential for damage to your vehicles electrical system from harmful shorts or miswire situations. On a side note, I recommend checking your local laws and regulations on the use of a supplemental braking system. Most states now require the use of a supplemental braking system when flat towing. If you do not require a supplemental braking system, then you can disregard the next paragraph.

If you decide to go with a supplemental braking system, then I recommend using the Roadmaster Even Brake, # RM-9400. With the Even Brake, you will also need to use the 12 Volt Outlet Kit, # RM-9332, to power the braking system, the BrakeMaster Seat Adapter, # RM-88276, to ensure proper positioning of the Even Brake System when towing and, finally, the Stop Light Switch Kit, # RM-751221.
