Question:

I need a cargo carrier to hold a couple of fuel cans when I go overlanding. Will this work with the stock spare tire on my 2019 Jeep Wrangler JL? I do have a 2 inch receiver. Thanks!

The 20x48 etrailer Off Road Cargo Carrier # e98875 is an excellent choice for off-road and overlanding applications because it lifts your gear 11 inches from the ground, so you can feel confident going over steep and uneven terrain. If your stock spare tire sticks out less than 9 inches away from the center of the hitch pin hole, the shank on this cargo carrier will be long enough to clear it. Otherwise, you can pair it up with a hitch extender, like # RM-071-1075, which provides an extra 7-3/4 inches of clearance and comes with an anti rattle bolt to limit any play between it and the hitch receiver. The etrailer cargo carrier does come with an anti rattle bolt of its own.

Just keep in mind that your hitch's tongue weight capacity will be reduced by 50 percent, but considering the # e98875 weighs only 29 lbs, that should still leave you with plenty of capacity to be able to carry a couple of gas cans on the back of your Jeep.

I've attached a photo of a similar Jeep with an oversize spare tire using the # e98875 along with a hitch extender.
