Flat Tow and Trailer Tow Wiring Recommendations for a 2008 Subaru Impreza

Updated 08/31/2019 | Published 08/30/2019

Question:

Hello My 2008 Impreza has a separate brake/turn system. I would like to be able to keep this system to run off a semi trailer light chord. Will this product to the job? I also need it to work as a combined system when Im not towing behind a semi tractor. Thanks

The wiring kits used for flat towing are designed to receive signals while the wiring for trailer towing is designed for sending signals. For your 2008 Subaru Impreza I recommend using the Tow Ready Tail Light Isolating Diode System # TR118821 for your flat tow wiring and then the Curt # C56111 is you have a 5-Door Wagon or the Curt # 56061 if you have a Sedan for your trailer wiring.

The Tow Ready wiring will splice into your OEM wiring while the Curt options tee in behind your tail lights and then draw power directly from your battery to power the trailer lights via the black wiring.

Attached are some videos for you to check out as well as the written instructions for all 3 systems. I have also added a photo to this answer page showing how you need to wire the Tow Ready wiring for your Impreza since it has separate wiring.
