Installation took longer then expected but it was easy to do in garage without lift. Everything fit very well, instructions are clear. Great job.

by:
2011 Subaru Impreza

I am very pleased with the product and etrailers.c Shipping was fast and the hitch was very easy to install. Overall great experience!

by:
Subaru

Hitch fit perfectly on my Subaru and was a breeze to install following the instructions. I especially liked the premade fish wire for installation of the bolts. That feature made things so much easier.

by:

The hitch was delivered ahead of schedule. Installation was straight forward. This was the least expensive I could find and the only one that fits the Sti and new WRX. Thank you etrailer.

by:
2012 Subaru Impreza

Hitch was delivered very quickly. Instructions were clear, and the hitch fit well. Rather than dropping the exhaust, I removed the muffler to gain better access. From a quick search, this sounds pretty typical. Fascia trimming wasn't excessive nor difficult (I used a soldering iron with a cutting tip). I'm very happy with the final result.

by:

Hitch installed very easily and is extremely secure. The fishwire system looks complicated in the instructions, but I found it to be very intuitive and it works great! Curt really thought this one through. Total install time for an amateur working alone was 1:45, but it was not particularly difficult. No drilling or filing required.

by:
Subaru Impreza

Fits perfectly! Some cutting required, but went very smoothly.
Great instructions too.

by:

The trailer hitch for my 2013 WRX fits SO well,.. it is exactly what I was looking for

by:

As far as the trailer hitch itself is concerned, while the install is really, really quite simple, I wouldn’t say it was truly easy. Removing old clips and hangers never goes as quickly as one might expect since they’ve been on there for a long time. Also.while reverse fishing is super easy, fishing can be tricky; especially when you’re trying to find a lateral hole and not able to simply use gravity for a hole at the bottom or underside of the pipe. It actually took me probably a couple hours to fish those two bolts. That said, the hitch feels really solid, and I will be able to use it with confidence.

As far as the wiring harness installation went, since I had never used a light tester before, it would’ve been good to get some information on how to ground it. That tripped me up a little bit. Once I had that figured out, though the rest of it went pretty smoothly. The video you sent using the connectors instead of cutting into the wires was helpful. It would have been great if that were included in the written directions.I also used a couple other videos that I found on YouTube to be helpful as well. All in all, I think I’m pretty happy with the product and I would recommend it.

@Stu Glad we had the right fit for you Stu! To go off your original review, the only fishing I enjoy is at the lake =) What do you mainly use your hitch for?

by:

There seemed to be some clearance issues with the rear exhaust hangers but other that it all lines up perfectly. The base Impreza I would recommend removing the bumper because it’s a lot smaller than the WRX. It took my an hour all by myself and the installation is pretty straightforward.

by:

I put a hitch on all my cars. I wasn't expecting to find one to fit the 2014 WRX, but here is one, and it mounted easily and is tucked behind the rear bumper cover very nicely.

by:
2014 Subaru Impreza

Good clearance even with my large aftermarket exhaust. I am happy to report this works seamlessly with my nameless exhaust. I was worried that the bigger pipes and different design of my exhaust wouldn't clear the hitch, but this hitch design seems to give as much space for exhausts as possible.

It took me and my friend a good 3 hours to do this, mostly because I had two polyurethane exhaust hangers that are a pain to get off, and we incrementally cut some fascia off and tried test fitting the hitch about 5 times. We had to cut a good bit more than the instructions say, and we were a little hesitant to cut too much. After we cut enough fascia away though, the hitch went in pretty easily.

1 year later, hitch is still working perfectly. It got plenty of use with the Kuat NV bike rack with ebike on it over the summer. Really satisfied with the purchase.

by:
2013 Subaru Impreza

The installation took slightly longer than expected in my 2013 Impreza STI. I made the right decision to completely remove the muffler and 4 pipe exhaust, which is easily detached from the rest of the exhaust system.

I also ended up having to trim the bumper 1-5/8" x 4-1/2" instead of the recommended 4". Maybe the 2013 bumper is slightly lower.

In all, the installation was relatively easy to do.

I can now haul my mountain bike easily.

If you are patient and careful, a utility knife with a fresh, sharp blade can do the trick. We use a Dremel here in our shop with a cutting bit and then go back with a utility knife or a file to clean up the edges.

After a year of use the hitch is still performing as expected. I haul my bike almost weekly around town and in the highways with no issue.

by:

The installation could have been much faster if there were 4 fish wires instead of only 2. I managed to bump both of the forward fasteners into the frame and had to suck them out with magnets, pocket screwdrivers, and going to a U haul to buy another fish wire (the guy was nice enough to give me one). The fit so far seems good (took it for a spin around the block unloaded).

by:
2014 Subaru WRX

2014 Subaru WRX. It was a little more timely than I thought, but I am sure it is because of my inexperience. Everything worked as advertised! 2 things that made it easier and wasn't too hard: 1. Remove rear bumper, 2. remove muffler hangers. There are youtube vids for both of these.

by:
2013 Subaru Impreza

hitch looks great, however, do not know if it was me but took way longer then an hour to install, I do all my own car work and took me about 4 hours, was easy until I had to fish bolts in bumper. Then once they were in was really hard to get it into position.
Two tricks on bumper bolts. First, may be obvious but the big hole is inside of the rear bumper rail, not outside of it. Also, it says to fish bolts through bumper. I reverse fished just the fish wire (was easier to get out of big hole), then added bolt and keeper nut and fished them back through.

by:

Good quality and fitment. Everything is hidden except the receiver, and Worked with my aftermarket 3" exhaust which was what I was looking for.

by:
2014 Subaru Impreza

Haven't used it more than once yet but so far works great for holding my bike. Install was pretty easy but took a little longer than expected. Removing muffler made it a lot easy to do.

This is my 4th hitch from Etrailer. I have yet to have one arrive in an intact box :).
As another reviewer stated, it is much easier to remove the bumper cover for this install than struggle with the cramped spaces to fish the bolts for the bumper mounting points. It also makes trimming the bumper cover much easier.

The etrailer website described part #C11120 as compatible with 2013 Subaru hatchback but didn't specify specifically for dual-exhaust WRX or WRX-STI.

The hitch itself was affordable, durable, and came with clear installation instructions. I would recommend calling to confirm the hitch meets your exact vehicle specifications before ordering because this item was not eligible for a refund or exchange.

We show the hitch as a fit for the 5-door wagon, but not the Sedan. The hitch is compatible with the quad-tip exhaust.

Unfortunately have to leave a 1 star review. Extremely poor packaging. The edges of my hitch were all poking out the sides of the box and are roughed up from shipping. The package included no hardware kit (which I thought was included). Extremely disappointed and I haven’t even installed the hitch yet.

After a rough shipping experience, I have to say I am quite satisfied now. Thanks to the fantastic customer service of etrailer, specifically Breanna B, I am happy to say a new hitch arrived in no time with all the appropriate hardware and instructions! The installation was a breeze! Having 2 people for installation does help significantly. Was a little upset I had to cut into my bumper a bit. Nonetheless, the low profile of the hitch makes up for it. Most people dont even recognize the hitch is there unless I point it out.
