Features to know about

Clean, Factory Look When You’re Not Towing: Completely Hidden Hitch Design

You don’t have to sacrifice your vehicle’s design to get towing power. This hitch installs behind the rear bumper so the cross tube stays completely out of sight. The 2" receiver unbolts and removes easily when you’re done hauling, giving you that clean, from-the-factory appearance with no bulky hardware left exposed.

Strength for Everyday Hauling: Class II Performance

Whether it’s a small trailer, bike rack, or cargo carrier, this hitch is built to handle light towing with confidence. It’s rated for a maximum 2,000 lbs gross trailer weight and 300 lbs tongue weight. That strength makes it a solid match for common adventure or utility loads while staying lightweight and easy to manage.

Eco-Friendly and Tough Enough for the Road: Recycled Alloy Construction

Built from a mix of aluminum, steel, and stainless steel, this sturdy alloy is made from recycled materials that cut down on waste during manufacturing. The combination keeps weight down but durability high, and the black powder coat finish adds rust protection for long-term use in all kinds of weather.

Simple Install Without Drilling: Bolt-On Fit

Installing this hitch doesn’t require drilling or welding—just bolt it up using the existing frame points. The removable receiver makes it practical for day-to-day use, and the design meets SAE J684 towing safety regulations for proven reliability on the road.

Installation instructions were clear and the project went well. No real hiccups.
My only desire would be for the hitch to be about an inch or 2 higher. Every now and then I will scrape bottom backing down a steep driveway even without having carrying anything. Or over a speed bump while carrying my bike rack.

Etrailer and EcoHitch rock - Hitch arrived as predicted and installed just as advertised; instructions were clear and all the hardware was in the package. The cardboard box was punctured by the hitch during shipping but the hitch was not damaged - it's build like a tank! The removable 2" receiver bolts up very solid.

Install took about 2 - 3 hours by myself for mechanicals but electrical took longer - it's tough to route the power wire to the Curt trailer controller (also bought from etrailer) from the trunk to fuse panel. The included bolt threader worked fine; easier than I expected.

Why not 5 stars? No metal-to-metal clearance issues with SPT quad-tip exhaust on my 2010 STI SE but the front two bolts do touch the rubber exhaust hangers. Don't think it will be an issue but may shorten the front bolts to give more clearance.

Hints:
1. hang the hitch with a rope around the center section of the hitch, tied to the latch for the hatch - makes it easy to maneuver one side in place, tighten those two bolts then go the other side. If you loosely thread one nut on one of the bolts, you won't have to worry about pushing back into the frame while you're working on the other side.
2. Liberal use of PB Blaster to loosen the bumper beam bolts will make your life much easier - squirt as soon as you get the bumper cover off and it will be ready when you get around to taking the beam off.

Sorry about the poor quality of the pictures. The one without the bike rack shows hitch installed with receiver removed.

Everything was as expected. I will follow up with some better pictures when available.

I would recommend etrailer.

Its OK. The structure looks good but the hitch is off center to the left and also twisted toward the right side of the car. So it makes the rear of the car look off. We pulled the bumper cover over to try and hide the flaw and that helped. I also had it powder coated because the coating that was on it wouldn't have lasted half a Maine winter. So it works, but the details of it are poor.

Installed on a 2013 WRX Hatch
The part itself is good quality, no issues with paint carroding, welds look good and nothing is flimsy. Love the ability to hide the hitch entirely by removing the drop post.

Install was pretty straightforward, the hardest part is removal of the bumper beam and any existing hardware. Some plastic on this cars bumper will need to be trimmed for the drop post to clear.

For this car specifically, be prepared for issues with exhaust clearance. My car has an aftermarket exhaust (Invidia q300) and I had to try a few different exhaust hangers to get an acceptable fit. There are many different hangers available so you may need to try a few. I had success with the two-position grimmspeed ones and it's still pretty tight.

As advertised, installation instruction straightforward and relatively easy.

  • Hitch for 2014 Subaru Impreza STi Hatchback That Won't Reduce Ground Clearance
Hi Chris; they don't make one exactly like the 306-X7211 for your 2014 STi hatchback but you can use the EcoHitch # 306-X7261. The receiver will be hanging down when you're using the hitch, which really can't be helped. However, when you don't need the hitch you can pull off the receiver so you have a nice clean look and your original ground clearance at the rear.

  • Trailer Hitch Options that Fit 2011 Subaru Impreza WRX Hatch with Quad Exhaust
As long as your 2011 Subaru WRX hatchback isn't a STI model we have the EcoHitch part # 306-X7261 that fits with the quad exhaust which is a hidden hitch with a 2 inch opening or we have the Curt part # C11120 which is a 1-1/4 inch hitch.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch For A 2008 Subaru Impreza
For your 2008 Subaru Impreza, I recommend the EcoHitch Class 2 hitch # 306-X7261. I prefer this hitch over the others we offer, because it has the highest tongue weight capacity at 300 lbs. With a motorcycle carrier like the one you are describing, I think the additional capacity will be key. It is also the only hitch we offer for your vehicle that has a 2" receiver. So you will have no trouble finding compatible accessories. This hitch also features a removable receiver, so it will be...

  • Hitch For A 2014 Subaru Impreza WRX 5 Door Hatchback With Invidia Exhaust
For your 2014 Subaru Impreza WRX 5 Door Hatchback WRX with the Invidia single exhaust. I recommend the EcoHitch Stealth Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2" Item # 306-X7261. This hitch hugs the spare tire pan and mounts to the frame rail above the factory muffler. From what I have seen the factory muffler is much wider that the round shaped muffler on the Invidia exhaust. As long as your muffler comes straight out the back and is not angled it should be compatible.

  • Will EcoHitch Stealth Trailer Hitch Receiver 306-X7261 Fit 2011 Subaru Impreza W/ Single Exhaust?
I may have another option for you, but the EcoHitch Stealth Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2" # 306-X7261 you were looking at will only fit the 2008-2011 Subaru Impreza 5-door Wagon with the Quad Exhaust and will not work on your Impreza as your vehicle only has the single exhaust. The only trailer hitch receivers available for the single exhaust models will be visible and do not have a removeable receiver like the # 306-X7261. Of the available options I recommend the Draw-Tite...

  • Hitch for 2009 Subaru Impreza WRX Hatchback That Fits with Aftermarket Exhaust
All hitch makers base their designs on a vehicle's stock exhaust setup. There are just too many aftermarket items to allow them to do testing to confirm hitch compatibility with a car that has one of these. Draw-Tite hitch # DT24959 and Curt # C11315 both fit the WRX hatchback with stock single exhaust as long as they are not the STi. EcoHitch # 306-X7261 does not fit your car. To help you check the fit with your exhaust I took a measurement of the Draw-Tite hitch. I measured from the...

  • Is Trimming Rear Fascia of 2014 Subaru WRX Hatchback Required
Yes, rear fascia trimming is required to install the EcoHitch part # 306-X7261 on your 2014 Subaru WRX Hatchback. The rear fascia has to be cut so that the shank of the hitch will fit. I attached a picture that shows where you'd need to trim the rear fascia.

  • Is There a 2" Trailer Hitch for a 2010 Subaru WRX
The only trailer hitch options we offer for a 2010 Subaru WRX with single exhaust are class I, 1-1/4" like the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver part # DT24959 which is what I recommend. However, hitches are only designed for factory exhaust so if you have aftermarket you may run into issues and need to make modifications. • Can a 2014 Subaru Impreza WRX Hatchback Tow a 2,000 lb Trailer
According the online version of the owner's manual for your 2014 Subaru Impreza WRX Hatchback (page 8-13) Subaru says that your vehicle is not designed or intended to be used for towing a trailer. The reason there are trailer hitches like the EcoHitch # 306-X7261 that you referenced is for accessories like bike racks and cargo carriers. At this time there is not a 2 inch hitch option available for your 2008 Subaru Impreza sedan from any of our manufacturers. The EcoHitch # 306-X7261 is a fit for the WRX models, but is not compatible with your Sedan. Hey Kenneth. The hitch pin hole on the EcoHitch item # 306-X7261 sits right at 2-3/4" behind the edge of the rear bumper when installed on a 2008 Subaru WRX STI 5-door wagon with quad exhaust. You'll have plenty of clearance for your Quikrstuff Mach 2 bike rack. The EcoHitch item # 306-X7261 has a detachable 2" receiver with a 300 lbs tongue weight capacity and a 2,000 lbs towing capacity.
