Availability of Hub and Drum to Fit 1.25 to 0.75 Tapered Spindle

Updated 07/24/2019 | Published 07/23/2019

Question:

Hello, Is there any drum brake hubs that would work for a 1.25inch to 0.75inch tapered spindle? Or is it possible to get a 5-4.5 inch Bolt Circle 3,500 lbs. Trailer Axle Hydraulic Brake Kit and press in the appropriate bearing/race sizes? Im just looking at what options I have to install trailer brakes. Thanks in advance!

The only hub assembly that we carry which matches with the 1.25" and 0.75" bearing inner diameters that you mention is the Idler Hub part # DX22XR. This has the 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern but it is only rated for 2,500 lb axles and it doesn't have the drum assembly that is needed for trailer brakes.

There may be other options out there that can match but what you have is not typical for 3,500 lb axles so I recommend using a different spindle or replacing your axle(s) altogether so that replacement parts are easily found and you can add brakes to your trailer.

Let me know which way you would like to go and I can help you choose the correct products from our linked selections.
