No need to mess with bearing grease right away. This hub assembly comes pre-packed with a lithium complex based (NLGI #2) wheel bearing grease that’s ready for use. The bearings and seals are already installed, so all you have to do is slide it onto your #84 spindle, tighten it down, and you’re ready to roll. It’s a simple, quick install that gets your trailer back in service without the cleanup.
This setup includes everything needed for a full hub swap—bearings, races, grease seal, grease cap, wheel bolts, and lug nuts. Each part is factory matched so it goes together smoothly. The hubs are built from sturdy iron for consistent performance under load, giving each hub a 1,750-lb weight capacity (3,500-lb per axle).
Finding the right fit is easy with its matched bearing pair—inner bearing L68149 (1.378" ID) and outer bearing L44649 (1.063" ID). That combo fits standard #84 spindles used on 3,500-lb axles. The included 58846 grease seal (1.719" ID / 2.565" OD) locks in your grease and keeps dirt out. Every dimension lines up exactly as needed for a snug, reliable fit.
With a 5 on 5" bolt pattern and 1/2" studs, this hub works with wheels from 13" up to 15". If you’re checking what pattern you have, just measure between adjacent lugs—3" center-to-center means it’s 5 on 5". Clear specs like this make matching up new wheels or replacing old ones simple and accurate.

1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

That's a little sketchy on buying one at first but it literally fit like a glove, It was well packed and had new lug nuts as definitely well made so I ordered another one for the other side lol. Went on smooth, no issues so far, the cover was a little tough getting on, so I'm sure it'll be fun taking back off to grease. Still, I'd rather have a tight seal. Quality of the bearings, and hub seem to be above par.
Quick shipping. Parts worked perfectly. Bearings included were cheap so I went to auto parts store and put better bearings in it.

This was a complete kit, all the pieces were included and there were no surprises. This was part of an axle replacement, the entire job of bolting on the axle and the hubs took less than 2 hours. I chose this hub so that I can use the truck spare tire for the trailer, too.
I needed to replace a hub with a 5x5 pattern. The only choice in this pattern was the star shaped hub. This seems to be a sturdy hub but I wish it was a full hub, seems heavy built though, time will tell if it holds up. I like that it comes complete with bearings, dust cap, seal and lug nuts.
As always, eTrailer was great to work with in this recent order, but the quality of, at least one part in this kit, is really lacking. The easy lube axle cap, the one where the rubber cap inserts, is such thin metal that it deforms almost beyond use when attempting to insert it into the hub. I would have thought that this was the new "par for the course," except that I also ordered just the bearing rebuild kit, part no. DBRKHW35EZ, for my second axle on this trailer, the one with the brakes, and the replacement easy lube cap that came with this kit was almost twice the metal thickness and worked wonderfully without deformation. Given that this hub replacement is noted as the "Premium" replacement hub kit, I believe the cap should have been of usable thicker metal.
Installed easily, glad it's pre-greased. Great deal! Shipping from etrailer was fast. Other websites didn't provide enough info to know if I was ordering the right part. etrailer did a good job of describing what was being purchased so they won my business.
Item arrived exactly as described, assembled, greased and ready to be installed. I literally took it out of the box, removed the plastic protective caps, and slipped it over the axle stub. It fit perfectly and works great. Very pleased with product cost, fast shipping and ease of installation.

Very nice to have this in the box ready to go for our long pocket cruising sailboat trailer over ten hours. I just replaced the bearings and packed them myself, and have an infrared thermometer to check the bearings at fuel stops, but if we do get into an issue on the road, this is an easy swap to ensure we aren't stranded on the side of the road.

Thats an awesome trailer! Exactly what Id like to build to pull behind my JK. Im hoping these 5 on 5 hubs are the Jeep wheel pattern so I only need one spare?
I was looking for idler hub assemblies for my 6' x 12' utility trailer. Apparently 5 studs on 5" circle is not that common. Most trailers are 5 on 4.5. The entire experience with etrailer was great. They helped me with the selection of the idler hub assemblies and assured me I was selecting the correct hub assembly based on the bearing numbers that came out. The ordering was slick, especially with PayPal, and the least expensive delivery method was fast. Ordered them on a Thursday and UPS delivered them Monday morning. Excellent quality and a fair price. Will definitely use trailer.com again.
SERVICE WAS GREAT AND THE PRICE WAS FAIR. ALTHOUGH WHEN COMPARED TO THE ORIGINAL HUBS , THESE HUBS ARE LIGHTER WEIGHT WITH LOWER QUALITY BEARINGS. THE ORIGINAL HUBS LASTED 36 YRS. I DON'T NEED THESE TO LAST THAT LONG. I WOULD HAVE PREFERED TO HAVE BOUGHT UPGRADED BEARINGS AS AN OPTION. THE 2 BOXES ARRIVED WITH A GOOD SIZED HOLE IN THE TOP BOX AND A COUPLE OF THE LUG NUTS, A WASHER, AND THE COTTER PIN WERE MISSING. THE GREASE CAP WITH THE HOLE WAS BENT OUT OF SHAPE. ALL IN ALL THESE ARE A GOOD PURCHASE. THEY WENT ON QUICK AND EASY, I HAD EVERYTHING I NEEDED INCLUDING THE CASTLE NUT. I AM GOING TO NEED 2 MORE HUBS I WILL DEFINATELY BUY 2 MORE OF THESE SOON.
I selected this hub from several in my size available from etrailer.com as the description indicates the hub is made in USA. There were some a good bit cheaper and at least one that was more expensive so I thought this would be a quality US made hub. I was disappointed to find it proudly marked “Made in China” when it arrived and it appears to be the same as the ones available at local auto parts stores at a lower cost. All of which appear less robust than the original hubs on my trailer.
I wanted to use a different grease than the manufacturer had packed the bearings with so I had to remove the grease seal and bearings to clean out that grease. In my original hub the bearing races were easy to remove as the seat the race bottoms out on in the hub is low enough that a punch can be used to push out the race. In this new hub the seat for the inner bearing is as high as the entire race which will make it more difficult to replace the race in the future.
Once installed, the spindle nut was farther inside the hub cone when tight making it more difficult to get the cotter pin in. I had the washer behind the nut and the hub width is the same as the original hub so this hub may have the seats for the bearing races machined further into the hub. I did not try to measure and confirm that.
I have not used the trailer other than a test drive so far. Hopefully the hub will hold up just fine.
etrailer has always been great for me with a good selection of parts, help with selecting the correct parts if I need it, and fast getting orders sent out so I continue to be a happy customer.

After about a year I have put over 2000 miles on the trailer, most of it highway miles in hot weather. No problems. I put new bearings in an old hub and carry as a spare now when traveling.
Package has everything. I wasn’t sure if castle nuts and pins were included but they are. With several options. Highly recommend!
Performing maintenance on a 23 year old trailer. The replacement hubs were an exact fit. Saved me the hassle of tracking down bearings, races and seals. Added benefit of new hubs, studs and lug nuts. These came pre packed with grease. Just added more grease and installed on the axle. If these last another 23 years, they will be perfect.

After a year, the hubs are working well. Dont really have a lot of miles on them, but, they seem to be performing as well as the factory originals.
This is the perfect setup for a hub replacement. So easy to just slide on pre lubed and packed and choose your fastening setup based on your axle. Definitely will get this setup again in the future for my other trailers.
