Question:

Hi, You have a chart posted for wheel torque. Would the torque for a 4 lug, 1/2inch bolt with a 12inch rim still be 90-120 lb. ft.?

Expert Reply:

For a 4-lug steel wheel with 1/2-inch studs like # AM20124 the correct torque range is 75-85 ft-lbs. For a 15-inch steel wheel like the item # TA37RR that you referenced the torque range is 90-120 ft-lbs. In general the larger a wheel is the more torque it requires and steel wheels typically need higher torque than aluminum wheels.
