Ive had a terrible time finding a 4-bike rack that fits my 2018 Toyota Highlander XLE. etrailer.com has been very helpful in narrowing my options. The site seems to suggest that a Thule Hitching Post Pro 4 bike rack might have the required depth size?? Otherwise, it looks like for under $400, you guys would recommend the Kuat Highline 3 bike trunk rack. Is that right? Thanks

There are lots of options for bike racks compatible with your 2018 Toyota Highlander XLE. My recommendation is to go with a platform style rack that will tilt for cargo area clearance and fold close to the vehicle when not in use. Hitch pin location is key, but your Highlander won't have any issue with most bike racks because the hitch pin hole is not extremely far back from the outer bumper.
My recommendation for you is the Swagman XTC4 4-Bike Rack for 2" Hitches - Platform Style # S64665 which will have a measurement from the closest edge of the carrier when folded to the hitch pin of 3-1/2 inches. I recommend the Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock and Cable for Swagman Bike Racks w/ 2" Shanks - 8-1/2' Long # S64030 to secure your bikes and the rack.
If you want a hanging style rack the Thule Hitching Post Pro - Folding Tilting 4 Bike Rack w Anti-Sway - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches # TH934XTR is a great option, but you may want to consider the need for an adapter bar like # 64005 for any step through style frames for level transport. I also recommend using the hitch lock # THSTL2. You will also need a cable lock like # e98891 to secure your bikes to the rack.
