Recommended Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack for a 2019 Subaru Impreza Hatchback

Published 01/17/2019

Question:

Looking for a trailer hitch for my 2019 Subaru Impreza hatchback. From what I read the 76209 is a good one but I don't like that the crossbar is showing. Is there something else that will work too? Needing to carry my bikes.

You are correct that the Draw-Tite Max-Frame # 76209 is a highly recommended trailer hitch mostly due to the fact that it has the highest weight ratings for your 2019 Subaru Impreza which indicates a stronger hitch.

Since style is what you are concerned about I recommend going with the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7350 instead. This trailer hitch has a hidden crosstube which gives you a great OEM look when you aren't transporting your bikes around (see attached photo). The weight ratings of this trailer hitch aren't as high as the Draw-Tite option but it will still exceed the amount of weight your vehicle can handle. I took a look at the online version of your owner's manual and it didn't have any tongue weight rating so it would be best to check with your local dealership about a max tongue weight recommendation.

If you don't already have a bike rack then I highly recommend the Kuat Beta # B202-2 because it is a lightweight (12.6 lbs) aluminum option that offers a lot of the same benefits as name-brand bike racks. It features an integrated anti-wobble system, dual-strap cradles for the bikes, and comes fully assembled. Additionally the distance between the arms is only 11" which greatly reduces the need for the adapter bar # UB01 for bikes with alternative frames.

If you would like to add some security to this bike rack then you can also get the locking hitch pin # HL2 and a cable lock like part # e98891.

I have attached a review video of the Beta on a 2014 XV Crosstrek for you to reference.
