Used this carrier several times since buying it one year ago. It has held up very well. This dark color against my dark vehicle I highly recommend buying reflectors to place on the back, sides, and bottom so it is clearly visible and people are less likely to run into the back of it which has almost happened to me several times.
Only been used to transport fuel cans to the filling station and back home. Without it it would be hard to mow my grass. I'm not hauling gas cans inside the vehicle.
I truly love it. I have it in my van now during deer season. I also carry my cart on it as its easier to load and unload my myself. I could not be more happy with cargo carrier. I bought one that flips up when i'm not using it and traveling. I brag about it everywhere i go.

The cargo carrier was delivered early. Easy to assemble and worked great for my camping trip. It freed up space for my dogs in the SUV. Quality material for a fair price.
The box was open and damaged when I received it! When I picked it up everything fell out and got scuffed up! Also, i think you could have included an extra pin for the trailer hitch!
This review is really more for etrailer rather than the carrier. Problems happen sometimes - especially with online ordering - so it really comes down to how that problem is handled in order to accurately gauge customer service. We had an issue from the manufacturer and etrailer let me know right away and then fixed it. They are 5 star in my book!
I have not had the chance to load the basket down yet, but I was able to easily follow the assembly instructions and put the thing together. It fits in the hitch receiver as expected and stays attached to my Subaru Outback when folded up! The product also feels well made. Plus I am happy I went with this 'lower profile' option versus some of the 'bulkier' options. The vertical sidewalls end up rising higher than it looks in the photos and the hook holes are plenty large enough for whatever straps you plan to use (I was a little concerned they would be too tiny).
Only concern I have is that the basket does wobble quite a bit when folded up and backing up (which I can view in the backup camera). I know there will always be some amount of 'play' with the tow receiver and basket shank clearances, but I also have never had to tow anything before so the wobbling took me by surprise. But I have seen tests of other baskets online and it looks like they all wobble too, so I am not too worried.
This cargo carrier has made 2 - 1,500 mile trips behind my Outback, loaded to the gills (tools, coolers, gas cans, boxes, etc.) and has performed very well. I used a bolt-on hitch stabilizer and a vinyl cargo cover. The only reason I haven't given it 5 stars is because it can bottom out on sharp dips, which is a bit of a design issue. Even if the carrier was raised 2" behind the hitch, it would help prevent bottoming out. Otherwise, this unit represents an excellent value and should perform well for years to come.
We use the carrier to carry bikes on the back of our truck with a pop up truck camper. So if you have a pop-up, you know space is limited, especially for toys.
THE GOOD: We attached bike racks with the Stromberg Carlson CC-125 Cargo Caddy Bike Rack Adapter, strap the bikes through the grates in the carrier, and can carry 2 bikes securely. This is a cheap and easy setup, esp compared with what is on the market like the Thule or Yakima setups. We had to make sure our tires fit within the carrier frame as the edge of the frame is not flat. A mtn bike and a Townie bike both fit fine. After we arrive at our destination and remove the bikes, we used the carrier as the step down from the camper.
THE EH: The carrier wobbled a wee bit but we stabilized it by running straps from the carrier to the truck, and now it's solid.
THE NOT SO GOOD: I have nothing bad to say! What a surprise for me :) The carrier arrived quickly, there were no issues with parts missing or the unit dented in any way. It was packaged well, and we were able to assemble and use it quickly.

Product arrived and was exactly as I expected. I actually ordered 2 because I wanted a single carrier 89 inches wide to mount on the rear bumper of my motor home. I did the modifications to the carriers (making 3 sections with two splices) to get the length needed. I made some additional parts to secure the carrier to the bumper (mostly modifications of the existing parts). I am having the new parts powder coated. When I get the finished product mounted on my RV, I will send a picture.
Was quite easy to assemble, instructions are decent. When in the hitch receiver it has some room so is a bit wobbly, but I remedied that with some thin plastic inserted on a couple of sides so now it doesn't wobble much at all. One other modification I made is that I made two washers out of thinner plastic and placed them on the bolt at the folding point, one on each side between the metal, so now it doesn't scratch the paint when you fold the tray and it is snug enough to where the tray will also not wobble back and forth on that bolt. Haven't put any cargo on it yet, but it holds 190lbs of my weight(in the center) rocking up and down...

Soon after purchase weve taken a camping road trip and this cargo tray proved to be an excellent purchase. We put a lot of gear in a couple of big plastic boxes that fit just right on the tray to fill it up, strapped the boxes, then put some more stuff on top and strapped that too. Could barely feel that the tray was on the car... doesnt add anything to the drag really, folds up nicely when not needed... great accessory...
Took about 3/4 of an hour to put this together today...very good instructions and everything fit just perfect...had to put it together on the tailgate of my truck because I had too much "stuff" in my garage or it might have only taken 1/2 hour...I do like the tracking link, it was great...and the followup emails from George were all about customer service, thank you...I WILL buy from etrailer again...United Airlines could probably take some lessons from this company, at least from the customer service aspect...

I like how the cargo carrier hugs the bumper of my Lexus RX350 in the folded up mode. Haven’t carried anything yet..
No issues, easy to put together and install. I recommend getting D-Rings and an elastic net to keep everything secure and make tie downs more accessible.

This works best with the pivot lock hitch pin for locking the folding part of the basket.

Now after a year the carrier has been working perfectly. I carry two generators and a satellite dish on the carrier. It has more carrying capacity because it has four mounts to the RV bumper. It has traveled over 6000 miles.
